10 Minutes to Summer Beauty with Josie Maran Cosmetics

Guest post by Carrie Meredith

I always feel the most beautiful when my hair and skin are in tip-top shape. If it’s a good skin day, I’ll skip anything more than tinted moisturizer and cream blush. I’ve learned that the less I fuss with what I’ve naturally got (working with it instead of against it), the better I look. In the spirit of my low-maintenance credo, let’s set the timer for 10 minutes, and start with simple Summer hair.

Josie Maran Argan Hair Serum

Start with damp hair (towel dried if fresh out of the shower). Work a few drops of Josie Maran Argan Hair Serum throughout hair, concentrating on ends. For those with long or thick hair, work through any tangles with a wide-toothed comb, or my favorite, a sustainable wooden Widu Detangling Brush.

Josie Maran Bohemian Waves Spray

Josie’s Bohemian Waves Spray is the best product of its kind that I’ve found. It gives you the beachy texture you want, but doesn’t dry out your strands like other texture sprays. Argan oil to the rescue once again! Spray damp hair generously while tousling with your fingers, occasionally scrunching to encourage loose waves. You can refresh throughout the day without fear of cakey  build-up. As hair air-dries, it looks and feels healthy, beautifully tousled and piecey. This is Summer hair nirvana in a bottle. Easy option: tuck a cute hair tie in your bag; low side-braids can be done without a mirror.

Apply Argan Moisturizer SPF 40 to face, neck and ears, and marvel at how quickly you forget you’re wearing sunscreen. It is a bona-fide super-moisturizer that’s not thick or sticky and smells faintly like pomegranate. Cover exposed body parts with Argan Body Moisturizer SPF 30. These formulas are packed with antioxidants, oils and botanicals, and they make my cranky, sensitive and deliberately pale skin feel hydrated and smooth.

For complexion perfection, try Argan Matchmaker Serum Foundation. Achieve your ideal shade by choosing one of three available,  and  apply with fingertips or a foundation brush. The initially white-ish “serum” with self-adjusting pigments matches your natural skin tone after a minute or so. It covers like a tinted moisturizer, allowing skin to peek through, but dries to a semi-matte finish with gorgeous subtle luminosity. It’s perfect for Summer; it won’t melt or change color as the day goes on. Be sure to use a primer or a moisturizer with sunscreen prior to applying foundation. I’ve found that the shade it adjusts to is most accurate this way.

Dab on Argan-infused Cream Blush in Sunset, a light coral. This highly pigmented satin finish will last all day. For eyes, one coat of GOGO Argan Mascara in Pitch Black is enough to define lashes and perk up your eyes beautifully.

Josie Maran Argan Lip Treatment, $18

For lips, I’m obsessed with the Argan Lip Treatment. It’s glossy, has a tiny hint of pale pink and it makes my lips appear plumper. The intensely hydrating formula feels cushiony and decadent, and I adore the pretty jar it comes in.

Okay, you’ve clocked your 10 minutes. You’re looking effortlessly sexy from head to toe, and now you’ve got even more time to spend doing the things you love with the people you love. Go forth and enjoy Summer!

  1. I’m a less, is more make-up lady too, and I totally adore Josie Maran. I have to admit that I didn’t care for the lip gloss pots, while they are adoreable, I found performance wise I wasn’t impressed, same for her mascara, and the dual ended eyeliner/color pencils. Other than those 3 items, I have loved everything else from her line, and the argan balm tin, is amazing, just like her argan oil, it’s a from head to toe item. I want to thank you, I truly appriciate people like you that help those of us who are in need of beauty help. So, thank you for your devotion and time.

  2. Hi Kelly! I’m absolutely bonkers for Josie Maran’s products. It’s always interesting to hear the different experiences we have with the same products. And thank you, Kelly, for taking the time to read and comment on my post! Kudos to Jenn, too, for letting me be a guest in her cruelty-free realm. 🙂

  7. Recently I was extremely low on cash and debts were eating me from all sides! That was UNTIL I decided to make money on the internet. I went to surveymoneymaker dot net, and started filling in surveys for cash, and surely I’ve been far more able to pay my bills! I’m so glad, I did this!! With all the financial stress these years, I really hope all of you will give it a chance. – z0ve
