  1. Hi Penny – Colgate is not a My Beauty Bunny advertiser. You may be seeing Google ads, which are based on your site browsing habits.

  2. Please look into Trish McEvoy – I saw a bunny on their website, but non of the beauty bloggers list this company one way or the other..

  3. Shouldn’t the Body Shop be listed?

  4. I recently decided to go Vegetarian after watching a disgusting cow slaughter video..I’m trying to work my way up to Vegan.I’m only a girl . It scarred me for life. Because its not a happy tree friend episode Its real life . You should check out Kiki Kannibal’s Vegan section.

  5. fico imaginado teste de Rímel nos bichihnos basta a crueldade animal.

  6. Basta a Crueldade animal!!!

  7. Good article , it is very interesting , thanks so much .

  8. really really appriciate your article. can you suggest the best mascara that s not so expensive in your opinion? im finding one that s worth my money

  9. Catherine Hempsey Welgoss

Wet n Wild is very reasonable! and a great product

  10. Best website ever! Everything I’ve been searching for! Now onto finding cruelty products like cleaners, materials, glues, and pet foods.

  11. Polina Yakusheva-Zerinskas

I would add 100% Pure Mascara to this list – it’s made out of plant dyes, completely vegan and cruelty free – AND it smells good!

  12. Looking for a good telescopic mascara

  13. Hey— FYI 100% Pure Mascara isn’t “completely vegan.” Many of their products contain beeswax.

  14. Hey Jen, I had a question. I saw that Stila is now testing in China and no longer cruelty free, but Stila mascara was still on the list. I was just wondering if the two mascaras on here are still cruelty free?

  15. I read that Urban Decay was selling in China which meant that they began testing on animals. I see a couple mascaras by them on your list. Does this mean they stopped testing?

  16. Urban Decay is cruelty free and Leaping Bunny certified. They are owned by a non-CF company (L’Oreal).

  17. Елена Макеева

    Hi Jen!
    I’m Lena!
Thank you very much for this blog!
I live in Russia and here is very difficult to find a cruelty-free beauty products.
I buy almost all beauty and household products online from cruelty-free producers.
I use Reviva Labs HypoAllergenic Mascara, but beeswax as part of this mascara confuses me.
Tell me, please, beeswax or organic beeswax may be considered cruelty-free ingredient?

  18. Hi Lena – beeswax is usually collected in a humane manner. However, if you are vegan, that means you avoid all animal products – including beeswax, lanolin, milk proteins, etc. I myself, am not vegan, but many of my readers are.

  19. Hello Jen! I’m so grateful for this site and blog ! I have been doing research all through out my transformation into cruelty free lifestyle. Maybe you could PLEASE be of some help on some things I’m having difficulties with??? One of my biggest concerns is cruelty free pet food at a reasonable price !! ( and where to buy on and offline if possible Baltimore Maryland ). OK here is the rest of my current list. And with the same aspects as where to buy on anlff line if possible, ordering online is OK for me but I feel much more comfortable knowing it could be in my area or at least my state. 1) vegan and cruelty free of course – tooth brush 2) nail polish remover 3) tweezers 4) hydrogen peroxide 5) mental cramp aid and all other medicines and aides for that matter including ointment for cuts , burns , piercings , and so on… 6) essential oils to make home made products 7) sleep aides – I need this badly. Just FYI I did find tweezers but they don’t seem to work nearly as good as Revlon , and I’m trying to avoid that company for being such a traitor. 8) hair removal such as razors , waxing , and permanent hair removal options as well as locations that do waxing as a service I can trust and where is safe to get my nails he as well. Like I said my research is extensive and takes hours which is OK but I know there is more out there. I’ve even come across some stores in Millersville Maryland that don’t even show up on organic vegan store locator sites. And if you can help me find Eco clothing / shoe store locations in my state also all reasonably priced I WILL BE FOREVER THANKFUL!!! I found one called Joshua’s Tree but they are very expensive , what I like is that they also carry book bags. 9) Hair styling tools such as c
Krimpers and curlers in straighteners , the on I have now is old an works great but I hate the fact that its by Revlon. Promptly waiting for all responses and advice !!!!!! Thank you for your time !!!

  20. It is my understanding that Almay hasn’t tested on animals in over 20 years, and she states that she doesn’t continue to condemn companies who’ve evolved from past practices. Of course, I could be mistaken.

  21. Thank you so much for taking the time to create this list; I don’t have time to do any thorough research on my own, so this gives me a great starting point.

  22. What a great website! I wonder if you’ve considered adding Liz Earle’s Smudgeproof mascara to your list? It’s one of the best, longwearing mascaras I have come across.Thank you for all your hard work and research, I shall definitely use this as a point of reference in addition to the BUAV site.

  23. “It’s So Big” is cruelty free and works amazingly!

  24. Hi ladies,
Will you guys be updating this list? I heard Stila is no longer cruelty-free. I don’t know offhand about the other brands.
    Thank you!

  25. Paulas Choice Lengthening Mascara is cruelty free and is lovely!

  26. I am confused I thought urban decay is not cruelty free anymore because they are selling in china??? if this is correct why are they on here? also what about the brand essence cosmetics, aren’t they cruelty free??? if so would you guys please do a review?? thank you for your help.

  27. if they are owned by L’Oreal then how are they cruelty free??? I am sorry but this is confusing for which is why I ask???? thank you for your help.

  28. We believe that supporting animal-friendly companies goes a long way toward the eventual elimination of animal testing. If the parent companies see the successes of their brands who do not test, it’s a win. It’s also a win for the animal-friendly companies to get larger distribution in mass channels by being involved with huge companies. That’s our personal opinion here at My Beauty Bunny™ and we invite you to make up your own mind on the matter!

  29. Urban Decay is not selling in China now. I am not familiar with Essence cosmetics – sorry!

  30. Apparently they decided not to sell in China after a backlash of emails from people who were going to drop their products.

  31. Urban Decay (as of 1/14/15) has never sold in China. They were contemplating it but pulled out because of consumer outrage.

  32. Just going to add they do not sell in China but they are under parent company L’oreal now.

  33. FYI, L’Occitane (you know the great hand cream) is selling in China so they too are no longer cruelty free. Just wanted to make sure you all knew that.

Also, I’m not sure of the connection with L’Occitane, but Le Couvent de Minimes http://usa.lecouventdesminimes.com/ has some connection with them, but Le Couvent says they do not test on animals, never have never will and it’s stated on their website.

If anyone knows, please let me know!

    Thanks 🙂

  34. Why does selling in China mean it’s not cruelty free? Just asking, I want to understand why.

  35. By law currently China is required to test all imported products on animals. I have found many articles from 2014 stating they have added other methods of testing for imported goods but most testing done by China is not cruelty-free since they do not wish to do the more expensive vitro testing or they don’t have the understanding on the newer cruelty-free testing practices.

  36. Rejuva Minerals has mascara that actually works! All of their makeup is vegan and cruelty-free. They’re working on the leaping bunny logo (I asked).

  37. I thought BareMinerals was NOT cruelty free.

  38. Does LA Colors animal test? I can’t seem to find the answer anywhere? What is the parent company? Thanks!

  39. How about Pacifica? From what I’ve read they
    Are cruelty-free and paraban-free.

  40. A true cruelty free product is LEAPING BUNNY certified and has a leaping bunny picture on their products, you can go to the CRUELTY FREE INTERNATIONAL website and send off for a little handbag size booklet that lists ALL cruelty free companies, their website explains much much more.

  41. Whoa, what an exhaustive list. I don’t see Elizabeth Mott’s It’s So BIG Volumizing Mascara. Is it not 100% cruelty free?

  42. Hmmmm I”m not sure about that one! Have you tried reaching out to the company to ask?
