Long-wearing Mineral Makeup?
I’ve always been a fan of mineral makeup and loved how they were suitable for practically any skin type. They work great for sensitive skin, are non-comedogenic, and have long-lasting wearability. Over the years we’ve seen mineral makeup brands evolve, some into luxurious formulations that easily compete with non-mineral brands. Glo Minerals is one of those brands that take mineral makeup to the next level with their line of professional quality cosmetics.
Mineral makeup used to only be found in loose powder form which is great and all if you know how to have a light hand, but when pressed and liquid mineral makeup became available I did I little happy dance. Pressed makeup is just easier to work with in my opinion and liquid makeup will always be a winner in my heart. So when I was given an opportunity to try some of Glo Minerals products and saw they weren’t going to explode all over my bathroom counter and floor, I was in.
The Glo Minerals Elemental Eye Collection is a gorgeous 8 pan pressed eye shadow palette that features four cool neutral shades and four warm neutral shades to work into daytime or nighttime looks. There are two shimmery shades while the rest are matte. I believe these colors would work for most anyone and apply like butter. No fall out for me and blended easily with each other for pretty natural looks. I didn’t even feel like I needed a base to apply and they pretty much lasted all day for me.
Next up was Glo Minerals Cream Blush in Guava. Now, I’m not a big cream blush gal. I will always prefer a powder blush because I feel it’s easier for me to control without looking like BOZO the clown, but I gave it a shot for the sake of this article. In the pan, this color looks BRIGHT. And you know what? It is if you use too much like I did the first time! So on my next attempt I literally dabbed the cream onto the pad of one of my fingers, pressed that finger to the matching one on my other hand, and gently swept it onto my cheeks and rubbed into an oval pattern. The color is gorgeous if you do it right, a flush that looks just perfect without looking like you ran up fifteen flights of stairs. I’d be more inclined to use this more often in powder form, but it is pretty I’ll give you that.
Lastly are the lip crayons. The Glo Minerals Cream Glaze Crayon gives you a glossy, moisturized look, while the Suede Matte Crayon provides velvety matte rich color. What’s nice about these is that they have built in sharpeners into the cap, and nourish the lips with Mango oil and shea butter. I tend to steer toward lighter, more balmy colors so the glaze crayon in chiffon (pink nude). It stayed on great and kept my lips feeling comfortable. Heirloom has a hint of more color to it (rosy-mauve) and looks just as beautiful. I’d probably reserve the matte color Demure (berry) for a dinner date night.
I really fell in love with the eye shadow palette and the nude lip glaze crayon. I’ve been using them daily ever since I tested them out! The shadows work great for my natural, but cleaned up stay at home mommy look, but can be pizazzed up if I go out to lunch or dinner with friends. And I love a moisturized, but not overdone lip. Just some added touches to look put together.
Glo Minerals has several products that I would be interested in trying after playing with these items, like their Protective Liquid Foundation Satin as well as some of their skincare products like their brightening serum and brightening polish.
