Top Winter Moisturizer
The Hydro-Dynamic Ultimate Moisture from Murad is the perfect solution for this year’s long, dry winter. Whether you slip into a little moisturizer every morning and eve, or use it for touch-ups as needed, this product lives up to the Ultimate Moisture title without leaving behind an oily or heavy residue on either your skin or your pillow case.
As with many other Murad products, there’s no heavy scent. Water is the first ingredient, and the rest of the recipe includes sunflower seed oil, shea butter, olive and avocado oils, and jojoba, among others. Low in that list is panthenol, but despite my sensitivity to that ingredient when it’s higher up the list, the amount in this composition was minimal enough that it never triggered an allergic response even after multiple uses in one day.
Ultimate Moisture didn’t feel sticky when used as a night-time moisturizer, nor underneath make-up during the day. A small dime or quarter-sized amount was all generally that was needed to get the job done. It doesn’t have sunscreen, but most BB creams do have a SPF of at least 15 these days, and the sunscreen isn’t needed when used at night, which means fewer unnecessary chemicals all the way around.
This cruelty-free moisturizer is ideal for sensitive skin or those days when your skin has had too much exposure to scents, dyes, and chemicals from other skincare or beauty products. I found Ultimate Moisture especially helpful on the days that I’d been a bit too abrasive with my exfoliating sponge or make-up wipes, as it has a sort of salve-like quality without the extra thickness or medicinal smell. It’s also very useful for dry elbows and hands.
