Thursdays with Cheeky Rox: Urban Decay All Nighter Foundation Review
Cruelty-free beauty brand, Urban Decay, has been killing it in the makeup world! They’ve had tons of exciting releases this year including the new Urban Decay All Nighter Foundation.
This foundation claims to be full coverage, long wearing, matte finish and completely waterproof! Now that just sounds like perfection-in-a-bottle, doesn’t it? As someone with oily/combination/acne-prone skin, I’m always on the hunt for a good foundation that will last all day long without making me look like a grease ball! So let’s see if the Urban Decay All Nighter Foundation is a hit or a miss!
Every time I use this foundation, I’m amazed that it covers all of my redness, discoloration and acne scaring. It’s one of the most full-coverage foundations I’ve ever tried and the best thing is – it’s not cakey or drying. The formula is absolutely incredible in this regard – it has a thick, creamy consistency that blends out smoothly over my skin. A little goes a long way – I usually only need one pump to cover my entire face. I still can’t get over how fantastic my skin looks every time I wear this foundation!
This leads me to our next claim – is it long wearing? Yes, yes, yes! I wore this foundation for twelve hours straight and – I kid you not – it looked exactly like it did when I had first applied. It doesn’t get oily, patchy or dry – it just stays in place all day long! Is that a miracle, or what?
The foundation also claims to have a completely matte finish – it’s definitely matte, but personally, I would describe the finish as a satin-matte because it’s not drying and still looks like my real skin. The notion of “matte foundations” usually leads me to think of a super drying, lifeless formula, but Urban Decay has done it again with the soft, satin-like finish of this foundation!
The Urban Decay All Nighter Foundation is available in 24 shades that range from light to dark and cool to warm, so you’ll definitely find a good match for your skin tone! One thing to note – the foundation does oxidize over time. When I first applied the foundation, I thought it was way too light for me but as it began to dry, I noticed that it got significantly darker. You can see a clear difference in the wet/dry swatches above! The oxidation doesn’t really bother me as long as I have a shade that works well for my skin tone. I’m wearing the shade 6.0 and it’s a perfect match (once it dries). Just make sure to keep this in mind when picking out your shade and you’ll be good to go!
As far as the waterproof claim goes, I’ve put it to the test and it will not budge – even with hot water! It’s amazing how the formula stays in place no matter what. Since the foundation is waterproof and super long-wearing, you definitely want to remove it well with a strong cleanser or pre-cleanse. I usually use an oil-based makeup remover and “double wash” afterward with a facial cleansing brush. That seems to get the job done! For this foundation, a light cleanser just won’t cut it so be sure to cleanse well!
I guess you really can have it all – at least with the Urban Decay All Nighter Foundation. It totally lives up to all of it’s claims – it’s full-coverage, long-wearing, waterproof, and has a beautiful matte finish. What more could you ask for? Needless to say, this foundation is definitely a hit!

I’ve been considering buying it but was hesitant until now, thanks so much for your review. I’ll be getting some on my next makeup shopping trip.

This sounds so promising! 12 hours straight? no wonder it’s called all nighter! no problem on top of primer or moisturizer or do you have any preference roxette?
