Summer is here and I have the A/C on full blast! I don’t have a pool, but as soon as someone invites me to their pool, I plan on taking full advantage! Here are some of my favorite summer beauty products to help you beat the heat and still look amazing.
Red Bush Cosmetics Cocoa Shea & Oatmeal Natural Body Lotion (no longer available) – This lotion is perfect for skin that has seen a little too much sun. The shea butter, cocoa butter and olive oil moisturize, while the calendula and oatmeal soothe irritated skin. Rooibos tea extract gives your skin mega antioxidants to fight sun damage. The perfect after-sun moisturizer!
Fresh Body – Fresh Feet – This company makes a product called Fresh Balls – I’m not kidding and it’s exactly what you think it is. If you’re a guy, I totally support the use of that! LOL! But since I’m lacking in the ball department, I’ll focus on the Fresh Feet product. It keeps your feet dry (I hardly EVER wear socks, so I need it!), and it’s made without aluminum, parabens or talc. It’s made with oatmeal and tea tree oil. You apply it as a cream and it dries to a powder finish. No more sweaty, stinky feet!
DermOrganic Calming Facial Toner – DermOrganic has a brand new vegan facial toner, that ANY skin type can use. It’s not drying, but it removes all the gunk that cleansing alone doesn’t. And it’s particularly great for refreshing during the day if you get all sweaty from being outside. It’s made with aloe, PCA, argan nut extract, bamboo leaf, chamomile, citrus peel, willow bark, lavender, lactic acid (vegan sourced) and grapeseed extract. You can use it after cleansing or it can stand alone to clean skin in the morning (as long as you don’t have a ton of makeup on, it cleans quite nicely).
Another product (not pictured) that is perfect for summer is the DermOrganic Masque Intensive Hair Repair Deep Conditioner. You can put it on your wet hair BEFORE you go to the pool or beach for an instant hot oil treatment as the sun heats up your hair. It also protects from chlorine and salt water. Also vegan.
Style Edit Invisible Dry Shampoo – This salon brand dry shampoo is truly amazing! You can literally spray it on black fabric and it won’t leave a white mess! It’s completely clear, but it works overtime to absorb oil while leaving a fresh, clean scent. A truly must-have product, you can find it at fine salons. Be sure to ask for it if your salon doesn’t carry it. It’s also great for hair extensions, because it contains no oils or heavy silicones. It’s paraben, peroxide and petrolatum free. And of course, cruelty free!
Dermalogica Clear Start Cooling Masque – This line is targeted at teens, but my 34-year old self just loves it! Cooling Camphor soothes irritation that stems from breakouts, purifying, follicle-clearing Salicylic Acid combined with other ingredients helps eliminate and prevent breakouts for clearer skin, and licorice extract soothes away irritation. On a hot day, this feels SO good in the shower! And it soothes redness while reducing breakouts. Win!
Prana Spaceuticals Reishi Shield SPF 45 – A high-level SPF that doesn’t break me out? Yes please! A combination (non-comedogenic), block and light weight moisturizer for daily use on face, chest, hands, and arms. This SPF combines Organic Plant Stem Cell Mushrooms combined with Micronized Zinc. These ingredients block both UVA and UVB rays while reducing redness, inflammation, and building skin’s immunity.
Perfectly Pure – body wash, toner and lotion – These Coconut scented products by Perfectly Pure are a huge hit in my house. My fiance loves coconut, so when I use the body wash and lotion, he comes in the room and immediately demands to know what that wonderful smell is! The toner is actually rose and witch hazel, so for those of you who know about my love of rose scents, you can believe me when I say I used that WHOLE bottle up! It gently cleanses and removes oils, so I used it as my morning cleanser instead of going through the hassle of cleansing with water. Call me lazy if you want, but I got stuff to do! LOL! And this cleanses just as well as a typical facial cleanser. Oh – and the price is RIGHT with these items – very low cost with good quality ingredients.
