Whitney Port Films a Scene on the Beach

Whitney Port's hair looks fabulous on the beach.

Aveda is one of my favorite cruelty-free lines, and I was super excited to try these products from their new sun care line.

I’ve been able to get to the beach a few times in the last month, so I tried them out.  I tried the Aveda Sun Care Hair and Body Cleanser, Protective Hair Veil, and After-Sun Masque.

Aveda Sun Care Protective Hair Veil

This is a super easy to use, spray-on product that protects your hair and scalp from UVA and UVB rays with natural wintergreen and cinnamon bark oils.  You can spray it on dry or damp hair before you go out to the pool, beach party or other outdoor event.  It makes your hair nice and sleek, but not at all oily (it does contain alcohol).  It has coconut oil and shea butter to condition your hair.

The reason why I love this product is that it keeps your (very expensive) hair color from fading!  It also keeps the skin on your scalp from burning, which is cool because my hair’s been kinda thin lately.

It’s water resistant, and supposedly lasts 16 hours, but it’s not going to last forever if you’re out there body surfing. Luckily, it’s easy to pack it in your bag and reapply after swimming.

Aveda Sun Care Hair and Body Cleanser

This corn- and babassu-derived cleanser can be used on hair or body to remove salt, chlorine and product residue.

It’s color safe (yay!) and has anti-oxidizing green tea, organic sunflower oil, tamanu oil, Vitamin E and organic coconut oil (read my thoughts about coconut oil here).  It also has that wonderful Aveda scent with organic ylang ylang, cistus and neroli (orange blossom).

Aveda Sun Care After-Sun Hair Care Masque

This is a great deep conditioning hair masque that doesn’t weigh hair down at all (and I have very fine hair).  I have used it after sun exposure and I also wet my hair and apply it BEFORE I go to the beach or pool.  It helps your hair absorb less chlorine and salt to begin with.

It’s got Morikue protein™ (from the Brazil nut), shea butter, tamanu oil, coconut oil, sunflower seed oil and palm oil to condition your hair.  All that stuff sounds heavy, but the masque really doesn’t weigh my hair down at all!

It also has green tea extract and Vitamin E to help fight free radicals.  And, of course it has that lovely Aveda scent that I love.

Verdict – good stuff – check it out!
