BareMinerals Neutral Quad

The Power Neutrals Quad from bareMinerals is a cruelty free (Editor’s Note: bareMinerals is cruelty free, but their parent company is not – see our stance on this here) neutral palette that is competitive with some of the more famous neutral palettes out on the market. The palette consists of eight Ready shadows in a neutral family of shades from beige to khaki to brown. I like to think of this palette as two quads- the left side being a cooler tone quad and the right side being a warmer toned quad. I consider them cool and warm, though they are all on the neutral side of those shades.

The packaging is a beautiful, mirrored, gold that is very hard to keep clear of fingerprints. A double ended mini brush is included in the palette along with a large mirror.

Boss Lady- pearl white with shimmer

Money Maker- matte khaki green

Payday- matte pale dirty gray

Exec- taupe gray with shimmer

The Ready formula is already one of my favorite shadow formulas on the market. The pigmentation and blendability combined with the creaminess of the shadows make them a dream to work with. I was so excited to add this palette to my collection.

Overall, I really like this palette, but I don’t love it. I think this is a great daytime palette. It would be really hard to overdo any look with this combination of colors. That is the downfall of this palette to me. I crave a deeper/darker shade in combination with these other shades to take this palette to another level. I feel like no matter how many layers I apply, I can never get a dark, smoky eye with this palette. That is just my personal preference and the drama queen in me speaking. This palette would be perfect for a beginner, a teen, someone with aging eyelids, or someone who wants a very natural look in everyday life. The quality of the palette is just what I expected a Ready palette to be. Even the shimmer shades are not overdone and are still perfect for any age. Bare Minerals is really great at creating products that enhance beauty without looking made-up or over-done. This palette is just another great example of that.

I agree, the shades are a little too similar in intensity – a darker shade is needed for both warm and cool. The shades they’ve chosen are really gorgeous, though.
