I’m SUPER EXCITED to tell you guys that I was invited to live-blog from the Oscars tomorrow! Dolby invited me and 8 other “social influencers” to sit in the bleacher seats at the Dolby Theatre for the 2013 Oscars. I’ve never done anything like this and I think it will be a lot of fun!
So, I will be in the bleachers (AKA out in the elements) ALL day tomorrow from early in the morning (well early for this girl – 10-ish) to the early evening.
youthH2OI’ve been preparing by drinking daily Youth H2O super drinks. (You can read my review from about a year ago here to see why I like them so much.) The caffeine-free superfood shots include: maca, camu camu and purple corn. They really help to boost my energy and my immune system (not to mention the glow my skin gets from taking them). It takes about 2 weeks to see results from these daily shots, so if you try ’em, I recommend getting at least 2 weeks’ worth. I have also heard that Youth H2O is giving the Oscar nominees a free year’s worth of product in their goodie bags – lucky celebs!
So, what does a beauty blogger take with her to the Oscars? Well, first I should say that the dress for the bleacher seats is not formal (whew!). The Academy is pretty strict about what they allow you to bring and once you’re in, you can’t leave until the show starts.
I’ll be bringing my Canon Rebel camera to get some good celeb shots. And, my iPhone and backup charger. No Wi-Fi at the bleachers, so I’ll be doing everything through my phone.
I have no idea what I’ll be wearing. I’m going shopping today. Probably layers because it will be cold in the morning and then it will warm up.
Did you know?
For the first time in 13 years, audience members and viewers at home will see a new name for the iconic landmark. The Oscars were first held at the Theatre on March 24, 2002, when it was named the Kodak Theatre. This was the same year that Halle Berry and Denzel Washington took home the Oscars for Best Actress and Best Actor in a motion picture.
The Dolby Theatre is 180,000-square-feet with an 86-foot-high-ceiling – that’s over 4 times as large in square footage as its adjacent neighbor, the TCL Chinese Theatre (formerly Grauman’s Chinese Theatre), which played home to the Academy Awards in 1944, 1945, and 1946.
The Dolby Theatre’s transformation is as dramatic as when black and white met Technicolor:
- 187 new speakers installed throughout the Theatre (58 of which will be used for the Oscars)
- A new 60 x 32 foot screen on the stage
- A new Dolby 3D system
- Two Christie 4K digital cinema projectors
- 13 new subwoofers spread throughout the room to control the base
Which celebs are you excited to see at the Oscars? I just caught up on Argo and Beasts of the Southern Wild last night. I’ve seen Silver Linings Playbook, but I still haven’t seen Zero Dark Thirty, Amour or Les Miserables. I know, I know – I live in LA – it’s expected that I keep up with the entertainment industry but I’ve got too many beauty products to swatch! 😉
Anyway – I would like to say that sometimes I’ve been attacked for MENTIONING celebs that wear fur. Of course I’m against the fur trade, but I honestly have no idea which celebs wear fur and which ones don’t. It’s quite sunny and warm in LA, so I really doubt anyone will be wearing fur tomorrow. Don’t spread hate – spread love please. 🙂
