Vegan Acne Solutions – BioClarity Acne Treatment
As my long-time readers know, I have struggled with cystic, hormonal, adult acne for most of my life. Because my personal brand of adult acne is so tied to hormones, I’m not looking for a “cure” – I’m looking for an acne treatment that can help manage the acne – keep most of it at bay, help to prevent new breakouts, and erase acne scars from old breakouts.
But in addition to what I take internally, I need REALLY good topical acne treatments to keep my skin clear. Recently I was given samples of the BioClarity acne treatment system to test drive.
The BioClarity Acne Treatment System has three parts: Cleanse, Treatment and Restore Gel. The trio is designed to kill bacteria that cause acne, calm skin, reduce redness, reduce pore size, and give you clearer skin in two weeks! It’s cruelty free and vegan, and there is a money back guarantee if you don’t see results. So what did I think of the products?
The first step is the Cleanser, which is really nice. It doesn’t over-dry or under-cleanse my acne-prone but sensitive skin (I have experienced both problems with other brands). It’s a clear gel that removes makeup, oil and dirt and makes my skin feel nice and clean. It’s made with calming chamomile and cucumber, as well as antioxidant-filled green tea extract. I use a quarter-sized amount or less to cover my face and décolleté.
The second step is the Treatment, which is a 2% salicylic acid-based acne treatment. Salicylic acid is a tried and true beta hydroxy acid that keeps acne at bay by exfoliating, reducing inflammation and increasing cell turnover. You can apply the treatment to any areas on your face (or body) that tend to break out or get congested (blackheads, whiteheads, etc). The treatment also contains lactic acid, which is one of the milder (but very effective) alpha hydroxy acids. The formula is balanced with squalane, oat kernel and hyaluronic acid to moisturize and soothe skin without clogging pores. If your skin gets a little too dry with twice daily application, try only applying once a day.
The third step is the Restore Gel. The first thing you’ll notice is that it’s GREEN! Literally. It’s made with Floralux – a chlorophyll and copper formula. The green tint comes from the chlorophyll of course, but don’t worry – it wont’ turn your face green. The green tint actually helps to balance out the redness a little bit, but most of it blends right in anyway. Chlorophyll is not something you normally find in acne treatments, but BioClarity added it to reduce redness and irritation, which anyone with acne knows is a big problem! The Restore Gel also has hydrating and soothing (but non-pore-clogging) ingredients like squalane, green tea, and allantoin, plus licorice to help reduce old acne marks and brighten skin.
After using the system for several weeks, I have noticed that my skin is looking pretty great! I am getting a large PMS-gift on my forehead, but according to the company, some purging is to be expected when you start using it. Some zits are hiding under the skin, and the BioClarity system brings them out. My skin got a little bit dry and red on my less oily spots (upper cheek area), so I started using the Treatment only once a day (at night), and adding a hydrating moisturizer to the mix in the evenings. Now, things are looking good! As with any acne treatment, you really need to keep using it to acne from coming back. Use it daily – even if your acne typically shows up around that time of the month. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!

Thank goodness there are lines like Bioclarity now that can help with acne. I remember the embarrassment and pain associated with it. I’m glad this is working for you.

I struggled with the same type of acne for years and years until my dermatologist had me try Solodyn since a lot of her other patients had luck with it. It’s an antibiotic but it’s one that is seldom used for anything else so not too dangerous to build up a resistance to if that eventually happens. I found that within a month or so my skin just stopped breaking out. It was like a miracle after so many years trying other antibiotics, Spironolactone, as well as too many topicals to count. I was pretty irritated with all my dermatologists in the past for not having told me about this sooner. Just thought I’d pass this golden ticket along to all your readers who struggle with acne as well.
Cheers!
