Seeing loved ones in pain is a very difficult experience. When my close friend Joy was suffering with breast cancer, I looked for ways to encourage her.
In my search for pick-me-up items I came across a variety of cruelty-free products that have not been tested on animals. These products are fashionable gift ideas that promote relief, comfort and relaxation. Even better, many of these products can be made more affordable with an online coupon.
There is a wide variety of cruelty-free merchandise for people of all ages and interests. For example, if you have a friend who loves candles, there is a huge selection that could be a nice gift idea. Many of these candles are scented when lit; their aroma, warmth, and light create a peaceful atmosphere.
Another cruelty-free option is flavored teas that can be used to combat nausea and the side effects of cancer treatment. Joy used to drink tea with her mother as a child, so she was excited when I surprised her with some. In fact, she made a habit of drinking a cup nearly every night. The cancer treatments affected Joy’s appetite and made it difficult to eat large meals, but the tea helped calm her nerves.
Aside from products like candles and teas, there are tons of other items. I bought my friend some clothes also. When we were younger we would get dressed up and go out every weekend. She always had a thirst for fashion and hospital gowns were never her style.
Fashionable cruelty-free gift ideas include scarves or bandanas that can be used to cover your loved one’s hair loss. There are scarves to match any outfit and accessory. As Joy always says, “When you look good, you feel good.”
Since chemotherapy can cause a person’s skin to dry out, lotion makes another great gift idea. These lotions can serve two purposes: bring life and smoothness back to the skin and replenish the nutrients that the body loses after testing. Added bonus: some of the lotions just smell great.
These products are just few cruelty-free gift ideas that can brighten your loved one’s day as they battle cancer. Urban Decay, Origins, Fourth Coast Soaps, and Healing Scents Aromatherapy are among the companies that provide these types of products.
