Cruelty Free Beauty Shopping at Good Cubed
I’ve been blogging about cruelty free beauty for eight years now. When I started, there weren’t that many stores that sold ONLY cruelty free beauty products. I’m happy to report that more and more retailers are listening to what consumers want – cruelty free products – and only the good stuff – no garbage!
I recently found out about cruelty free beauty retailer, GoodCubed.com and I’m so happy I did! They only sell brands that are cruelty-free, paraben-free, and sulfate-free. Plus, more than 50% of the products they sell are vegan! There are some brands that I know and love like Alima Pure, Erbaviva, Vapour Beauty, Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics, and Ecco Bella. And there are some that I haven’t tried yet, but want to. Good Cubed was started by animal-loving husband and wife, Zach and Nicole, not by a faceless corporation who is trying to cash in on this “cruelty free trend”. They even give a percentage of sales to the Beagle Freedom Project!
Good Cubed sent me a few products from their online shop to try out: an Alima Pure eyeshadow, a LilFox Beauty Nectar oil blend and a coffee scrub from Beverly to 5th.
I’m trying to branch out from the usual earth tones when it comes to eyeshadow colors, so I was excited to try Alima Pure Pressed Eyeshadow in Siren. It’s a muted pink-orchid shade with a holographic lilac shift. It’s vegan and gluten free. The rice powder formula is very easy to work with and blend. It also adds a dose of hydration with jojoba oil and and avocado oil. It comes with a magnetic pan and a re-fillable compact. This one blends really nicely with purples and pinks, or you could create a silver and black smoky eye – and pop it on to the center of your eyelid for a nice highlight. If you have darker skin, this would even make a pretty blush color.
Good Cubed also sent me the LilFox Prickly Pear Tourmaline Infused Beauty Nectar. This small-batch natural oil blend is made with organic prickly pear extract that helps to renew your skin. Prickly pear has 85% Vitamin E content, high omega 3 and 6 content and lots of Vitamin K and amino acids. The blend also contains pomegranate oil, red raspberry seed oil, passionfruit seed oil, French grapeseed oil, jasmine, sandalwood, frankincense and bergamot. I LOVE bergamot (there is a very small amount in this product), but it can make your skin more sensitive to the sun, so wear your sunscreen. This is such a nice, healing blend of oils for combination, dehydrated, dry or mature skin. The oil is infused with the mineral, tourmaline, and I just love this quote: “There is an old Egyptian legend that tells the story of how the Tourmaline, while making the long trip from the earth heart up towards the sun, it traveled along a rainbow, and on its travels, it collected all the colors of the rainbow for its own.” Awwww!
And finally, the Island Coconut Coffee Scrub by Beverly to 5th. First of all – this packaging!!! They recreated the iconic pink wall with green palm leaves from the Beverly Hills Hotel. I’m obsessed! Very few ingredients give as much of a scrub-down as coffee! This vegan coffee scrub is made with organic arabica coffee seed powder, sea salt, brown sugar, coconut oil and Vitamin E. It’s not an oily scrub (as you can see in the pic), but after you use it, your skin will feel super soft and moisturized from the coconut oil. The coffee tightens skin, so it’s great for your whole body. It also smells amazing – coffee and coconut is a nice combo!
