Vegans and coffee lovers take note!
My latest obsession is with uber-adorable Jamie, a fellow animal lover and homemade, cruelty-free, eco-friendly, fair trade beauty product-maker from Canada! The adorable logo and website were the first to catch my eye. Then I saw that she rescues animals and donates a portion of her proceeds to the Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (OSPCA). I think we are on the same wavelength for sure!
I tried her Wake Me Up Sugar & Coffee Vegan Body Polish Scrub and it’s like nothing I’ve ever tried before. First off, let me say, this stuff is made with real coffee and sugar and SMELLS DIVINE! It’s really thick, so I take a small amount (about half a golf ball size), rub between my hands, and then rub all over. You will smell like a coffee cake and I mean that in the best possible way. The scent lasts too – I can actually smell it when I’m done with my shower/get dressed/eat breakfast/commute to work routine. I’m warning you now – your coworkers will be drooling over you and they won’t really know why. Just tell them it’s your animal magnetism.
I don’t know if you actually absorb any caffeine from the coffee, but I like to think you do. I certainly feel peppy when I use it in the morning, and maybe it’s just the Pavlovian effect of the smell of coffee, but whatever – it’s workin’ for me! It’s not a totally crazy idea – you do absorb substances through your skin. How do you think the nicotine and birth control patches work? (Editor’s note: Yes, I’m talking to you Oliver! I’m not crazy!) Jamie says this is a mild exfoliator, so don’t expect to feel any major exfoliation-action, but it’s something you can use every day. Personally, I thought it was more like a super-thick, creamy body w
ash. It’s moisturizing, but not greasy. I really hate oily, greasy products on my skin, even if I know they are good for me. I just don’t like the feel of it. This body polish rinses completely clean!
In addition to coffee, Batty’s Bath also has cruelty-free scrubs in margarita salt, pumpkin, strawberry birthday cake, peach blossom, french vanilla, lemon blossom, apple cinnamon crisp and blueberry jam.
