I’m so in love with cruelty-free brand, DERMAdoctor, right now. Regular readers will know that Jen #2 and I are both obsessed with exfoliating. We hate dirt and we want it out of our pores! Well, I was lucky enough to be able to try DERMAdoctor’s Physical Chemistry facial microdermabrasion and multiacid chemical peel. This stuff ain’t cheap, but it’s amazing. You only need a little bit. Rub it on DRY skin and then rinse off. I like to do it right before I jump in the shower.
It makes your skin soft and smooth and leaves no residue behind (I hate residue). I’ve only used it a handful of times and it has visibly reduced my hyperpigmentation/acne scars. It removes the surface layer of dead skin, which means your pores open up and you can get all the gunk out. I’ve noticed that after I use it, I can get more of those tiny blackheads out. FANTASTIC!
It is also said to help with enlarged pores, keratosis pilaris (those tiny bumps you get on your face or the backs of your arms) and fine lines and wrinkles. I don’t really have those problems, so I can’t say.
DERMAdoctor says this product is not for those with extremely sensitive skin. I have pretty sensitive skin though, and I have not had any problems.
The active ingredients are some of the best exfoliators in the business: glycolic acid, lactic acid, azelaic acid, and beta hydroxy acid. It also contains green tea, dimethicone and algae extract to soothe your skin. The exfoliating beads are small and round with no sharp edges – but they still do an amazing job (especially on dry skin).
Physical Chemistry has no soap or oils, is pH balanced, non-comedogenic (doesn’t clog pores), is fragrance/dye-free and of course, is not tested on animals! I think this stuff is pretty amazing and is most likely the best exfoliation you can get without a prescription or a dermatologist visit.
I love this product so much that I am granting it the highest honor – a My Beauty Bunny Cruelty Free Favorite award!
