Question of the Week: Share a beauty tip that REALLY helped you…
One beauty ritual that I’ve only recently started to do is dermaplaning. Essentially it’s just shaving your face, but with a single blade. As a woman, this is not something I’m used to doing! When you get a professional treatment, the goal is to remove the peach fuzz (and dark hairs if you’ve got em – like me!) AND to exfoliate the skin by removing the top layer.
Kerry Benjamin of Stacked Skincare explained that if you want your expensive creams, potions and lotions to really penetrate your skin, you have to exfoliate first. Don’t worry – your hair won’t grow back thicker – that’s just a myth.
I’ve been using those cheap razors you can get in drugstores, and then I upgraded to a vibrating dermaplaning gadget, but it wasn’t until I tried the Stacked Skincare dermaplaning tool that I really understood the value! I was a bit scared at first, because I had a previous altercation with a dermaplaning tool that I bought at a Japanese dollar store (that was really just a VERY sharp scalpel) – I swiped my finger with it and it cut through it like butter! But Kerry assured me that her tool had a safety edge, and as long as I did it properly, I wouldn’t hurt myself. I held my skin taut and used short 45 degree strokes in an upward or downward motion. I mainly focus on my cheeks and chin – staying away from my nose and eyes.
Until you use a professional tool, you won’t get much exfoliation (if any). Once I started using this pro tool, I saw all the gunk I could get off my face, and now I’m obsessed! My skin looks brighter and less fuzzy (which is definitely an issue as you get older – and especially if you’re often taking close up makeup pics!). And it seems that my makeup goes on more smoothly. I’m a convert!

The difference of a professional tool! I know what you mean! Also you should try professional skin care products! Not those on sale for the end user!
