Last time I wrote to you about a DIY tightening mask and hope you got a chance to try and liked it. I’ll continue the focus on the face for this post too and reveal another one of my mom’s biggest beauty secrets. My mom doesn’t really use a lot of makeup, even when going to an event/party etc but she ALWAYS, without fail takes amazing pics. Some would say that she is very photogenic but I give credit to her amazing glowy skin. Her secret is what I’m about to tell you now: at-home facials. Trust me, she loves her spa time and getting pampered but there have been many times that a last minute event has come up & she needed a quick DIY.
Here’s what you’ll need: Your favorite moisturizer, a small bowl of cucumber juice, a bowl or pot of boiled water, face towel, face mask and your favorite music (might as well make it feel like a spa). Professional steamers work really well too.
How-to:
1. Massage your clean face with a moisturizer.
2. Add a little bit of cucumber juice to make the movements really smooth for about 5-7 minutes covering the entire face & neck (big circles with an upward motion).
3. Then, take the boiled water that is steaming good but not too much (it should feel warm but not burn). Put a towel over your head and hover over the steam. (I always close my eyes because it gets hot in there & make sure to not do this over the stove, bring pot to a steady surface)
4. Steam for 2-3 mins & once you start to sweat, remove the towel.
(Another technique you can use if you don’t want to steam over the pot is to grab a face towel, wet with warm water, squeeze out water and microwave it to a comfortable temperature that you can handle. Lay it over your face and meditate, it might be the best quiet time you’ll have all day!)
5. Take a wash cloth & wipe off the cream.
6. Apply toner.
7. Once you are done with that apply a face mask. I personally love Multani Mitti (cruelty-free clay mask, available on amazon).
8. Take off the mask & splash face with cold water or do an Ice facial (rub ice cube gently all over face for couple mins). And that’s it! Enjoy your glowing complexion.
Bella Tip: it’s best to do this 1-2 days before an event or once a week just for fun.

Hi Gee!
I love the way you steam your face, I have never done that before bcs I am afraid I burn my face, but the way you described it looks safe.
Thanks, and see you at Bellashoot 🙂

You are welcome and so glad you enjoyed the post Marisa! Ice facial is truly amazing. You don’t have to do the whole routine for that. I sometimes apply ice for few minutes before putting on my makeup. I’d love to know how you like it once you try it. Feel free to message me here or find me on bellashoot 🙂
