Recently I was sent a sample of Hydrofeet Insoles shoe inserts to test drive. I’ve always had unexplained foot and leg swelling (ever since I was a small child), and the best doctors have been able to offer me is advice to wear medical grade support hose. Yeah – super fashionable – especially when I was 16 years old and barely able to stand after a shift of standing up all day at my first job (a pizza joint). I haven’t found anything that works, so the best I can do is try to avoid standing for long periods of time. Recently, I switched medications, and my legs went to level eleven (This is Spinal Tap joke!). I can only imagine this is what pregnant women feel like all the time. My feet are so swollen, I can barely walk – especially if I’ve been sitting or sleeping for a while. It seems that my circulation is no bueno.
So, I tested out the Hydrofeet Insoles recently while on a clothes-shopping trip to the mall (when my feet are at their WORST). I cut them a bit to fit into my flats (you can wear them with heels too, but the best I can hope for is wedges these days).
This is the claim from their website:
“Wearing Hydrofeet Feels Like Walking On Water or going barefoot in soft plush grass, or walking on the beach. They adjust to your feet to provide better stability, less impact, and to put your feet back in a normal, healthy state. Hydrofeet® Insoles help prevent or address common foot problems such as sore, tired feet; plantar fasciitis; bunions; Morton’s neuroma; Achilles’ tendonitis; knee, hip, and back pain; heel spur; heel pain; corns and calluses; peripheral neuropathy; and poor blood circulation.”
“Hydrofeet® Insoles are precisely filled with a vegetable-based, pharmaceutical-grade, FDA-approved glycerin. “Pharmaceutical grade” means allowable in food or cosmetics under FDA standards. This liquid glycerin is enclosed in thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) that is known for its durability and strength. Unlike rubber, gel, or foam inserts, Hydrofeet® Insoles last longer, and were found to have 50 times the viscosity and strength of regular insoles.”
The first thing I noticed is that they don’t take up a lot of space, which is good. Your shoes will still fit. But, I felt a bubble in the middle of each insole that moved back and forth when I walked. I checked the fit again, and they fit perfectly into my shoes. The bubble was irritating, so by the time my fiance and I got to the mall, I took them out and put them in my purse.
After walking for a couple of hours, my feet were killing me. I decided to try the insoles again. At that point, they were a welcome relief and because they absorbed some of the pressure from the hard marble floors, the bubble didn’t bother me at all. I’m not sure if I’ll wear these all the time, but I will definitely keep them with me for times when my tootsies need backup.
Hydrofeet Insoles come in sizes for women, men and kids. Not sure if you’re ready to make a purchase? Don’t worry. There’s a 30 day money back guarantee.
