Is there anything better than having the whole day to yourself to do just about anything you want? I love when no one is home, and I can give myself a full spa day treatment without any distractions from the TV blaring motor engines in the background (thank you fiance), or pesky reminders of things on my to-do list popping up on my phone. Giving yourself a day to relax and pamper yourself can feel somewhat necessary when you are constantly on the go or working all the time – so set aside just one day a month where the only priority is you. Here are four beauty treatments you can do at home and not spend a dime on anything extra.
First, get a large pot of your favorite tea brewing because you’re going to hydrate yourself all day long! I like to choose from decaffeinated options like chamomile, jasmine or mint – whichever I fancy at the moment. Enjoy sipping on a warm drink while you treat yourself to a day of goodness.
At home manicure and pedicure. Remove that old nail polish and treat your nails to a strengthening nail soak. Grab some milk and honey, mix together and let your hands and feet relax for a good five minutes. Milk has lactic acid to gently slough away dead skin cells, while the calcium strengthens nails. Honey acts as a humectant to draw moisture to skin. Voila, moisturized cuticles and strengthened nails. Push back those cuticles with an orange stick and top off with a new glossy polish.
Create a DIY facial. A banana and honey is suitable for most skin types (dry, normal, oily) and is easily made with just half a banana and a tablespoon of honey mashed together. Let the mask sit for 10-15 minutes on a pre-cleansed face and wash off with a warm washcloth. Other options are using greek yogurt with honey (which gently exfoliate with lactic acid and pulls in moisture with honey) – or a strawberry mixed with oatmeal mask (which draws out toxins and offers a more fruity peel action to the skin). There are plenty of options in your cupboard for a nourishing face mask, now get creating!
Treat your hair to a dose of moisture and shine. Use a full avocado and two tablespoons of olive oil. Mash that up together and section your hair so you can “paint” it on with your hands. Put a shower cap or a towel soaked (and wrung out) with hot water to really let the goodness soak in. Allow to sit for 30 minutes and rinse out with warm water. No need to add conditioner on top, just wash out and comb!
Relax with a bath soak. Using Coconut Milk or Whole Milk, Olive Oil, and a bit of vanilla extract you can create a soothing milk bath that will leave your skin smooth and moisturized. I like to go heavy on the milk, at least 2-3 cups, ⅔ cup olive oil, and a tablespoon of the vanilla extract. Run your bath with warm water and as the tub fills pour in the ingredients. Sit back and relax with the yummy aroma of vanilla and rub the warm water over your skin. When done, gently pat yourself dry and feel how mice your skin feels.
At home beauty treatment ideas are just about endless if you ever hit up pinterest and search DIY. It can even save you money while allowing grocery items to double duty in the house. What are your favorite DIY concoctions in your beauty routine?

I was looking for some great DIY spa and beauty strategies that I could create for my wife. She is the love of my life and deserves to be treated as such. If I could mix up that honey and banana concoction I am sure that she’d love to use it for a great facial.

I don’t have a lot of time to make it to a spa, but I do like to pamper myself from time to time. The ideas on this list for doing at-home spa treatments were really helpful and informative. A banana and honey DIY facial sounds really yummy and worth trying.

Great tips. It takes too much of time for lying in spa because of housework. Really helpful recommendations.

I personally do the banana and honey combo for the face! It really is very refreshing and I love the scent! I end up eating the other bananas and honey as a snack. of course not the one I put on my face silly! haha. I should try the strawberry oatmeal and yogurt options too! thanks for the other diy tips! xoxo
