I have been saying for some time now that when the month of October hits, I’m spending ZERO dollars on clothing or accessories, resulting in having to wear everything in my closet. Of course we all have things in our closet that we hate, so I’ve decided to do some revamping of said items.
First up, frumpy A-line skirt turned into lovely bubble skirt.
I purchased this skirt for dirt cheap last year and probably wore it once. I love its pockets, blue strips and wide belt loops. I hate how frumpy and non figure-flattering it is.
So, with the following easy steps, I turned it into a skirt that I now love.
1. Cut small hole in inside hem. I did this on the side seam.
2. Thread a piece of ribbon or yarn through the inside of the hem completely around the skirt, ending where you started.
3. Carefully put skirt on, not losing the two ends of ribbon/yarn you have hanging out of the hole you cut.
4. Tighten ribbon/yarn ends, creating a bubble, and tie ends together. Make sure you don’t tie the two ends too tight, or you won’t be able to walk.
5. Rock out your new bubble skirt.
This is a great way to create a whole new outfit without spending a dime. You can always take the ribbon/yarn out of the bottom hem and wear the skirt in its original form.
If you try this out, let me know how it turns out!
