Want perfect hair that lasts for days as you go from one holiday party to the next? It all starts with the perfect blowout. As long as you take your time, it’s not nearly as difficult as you might think to get a stunning blowout that lasts for several days. All you need is a few products and a good blow dryer to get the look.
Blowouts Made Easy
Step 1: Wash Your Hair
The key to a perfect blowout is freshly washed hair. If your hair is full of product and oil, your style will fall flat in no time. Shampoo and condition your hair and be sure to rinse thoroughly. Gently towel dry your hair.
Step 2: Treat Your Hair
While hair is damp, apply your usual pre-treat product such as leave-in conditioners or shine serums. For best results, use a product designed for blow drying as they don’t weigh hair down. You’ll also need to prep your hair by coating it with a volumnizing mousse or spray. This gives hair a nice boost when you dry.
Step 3: Partially Dry
Don’t try to do a blowout with wet hair. It needs to be approximately 75% dry to get a lasting style. If possible, let your hair air dry to avoid excess heat. If not, dry your hair normally until it’s mostly dry. If you take this approach, hang your head down and dry at the roots for a little added volume during the pre-dry phase.
Step 4: Divide
Use clips to divide your hair into three or four sections. For extremely thick hair, you may need to use twice as many sections. For longer hair, wind each section into a small bun to keep it out of the way while styling.
Step 5: Dry With Fingers
Use your fingers to hold each section taut at the roots as you blow dry your hair at the crown. Point the dryer downwards to avoid frizzies. Pull your fingers through your hair a few times before moving on to a brush.
Step 6: Dry With Brush
Use a round barreled styling brush along each section as you dry the hair. Always blow downwards to avoid frizzies and damage to the shafts. Pull the brush through hair at an even pace and keep hair taut. For best results, pull hair out straight out towards the front of your face for a more even fall later.
Step 7: Cool Hair
Before you move on to another section of hair, set your style with a few passes of cool air. Run the round brush down the section as you blowdry on a cool setting.
Step 8: Repeat And Finish
Repeat steps 5-7 on each section until fully dry. Finally, add a shine serum to really make your blowout look amazing.
Do your best not to rush. With a little patience, you’ll get a stunning blowout that wows at every holiday party.

Great tips thank you!! (Though I disagree with washing it immediately before. Unless of course it is packed solid with oil and product. The day before is better). 🙂
