Hard Candy is a far stretch from that brand your remember in the ’90s. They gave themselves a bit of a brand makeover, but their fun colors and budget-friendly prices are the same as ever. I got hooked on their amazing concealer a few months ago, so I was super excited to have a chance to try out some of their other new goodies.
HARD CANDY SHEER ENVY HYDRA-PRIME PRIMER LOTION
This lotion is an interesting combination of a moisturizer and a makeup primer. It advertises providing hydration for 12 hours. Despite having oily skin and normally reaching for oil-fighting products, this primer actually did help keep my makeup in place throughout the day. I think this stuff would be really great for anyone with normal to dry skin!
HARD CANDY GLAMOFLAUGE HEAVY DUTY CONCEALER – ULTRA LIGHT
Holy grail alert! This concealer is seriously heaven-sent. It is super creamy, moisturizing, and could probably cover up a black hole. I prefer the formula over my previous fave, the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer. My only complaint is that I wish it had a doe foot applicator! But I forgive you, Hard Candy. I just apply it in a V-shape under my eyes with my finger, blend it with my beauty sponge, and then bake with loose powder. Since it is so creamy, setting it is a must!
HARD CANDY GLAMOFLAUGE MIX-IN PIGMENT – FAIR 1
This product is such an interesting concept! The bottle comes with a built-in dropper so that you can add drops of it to your primer or moisturizer. You can customize the coverage by add more or less drops. I tried mixing it with a few moisturizers as well as the Hydra-Prime Primer Lotion, and I found that the consistency tended to get a bit weird and separate once mixed together. It might mix better with certain products rather than others. It worked the best for me when I applied it by itself as a high-coverage foundation with a damp beauty sponge.
HARD CANDY TOP TEN SATIN EYESHADOW PALETTE
This eyeshadow palette has a great selection of softly-shimmering browns and nudes. The colors are versatile, bendable, and well-pigmented. Definitely an awesome palette for every day looks!
HARD CANDY METALLIC MOUSSE – QUEEN OF HEARTS
Can we just talk about this lipstick color for a second?! Dark red lips are one of the hugest and most wearable makeup trends for this fall and winter. This liquid lippie goes on smooth and opaque, and has a lovely metallic finish. It does not dry down fully matte–as with most metallic liquid lips–but it still wears for quite a while. Plus the little tin that it comes in is some of the cutest packaging I’ve seen in a while.
Did you use Hard Candy back in the day, and have you tried any of their newer products?
