I would like to think of myself as a simple guy with simple needs when it comes to skin care or any other beauty need for that matter – but the truth is I like trying different skin care regimens or the latest fad to see what works and what doesn’t. While I’ve never had particularly bad skin, I am prone to occasional breakouts – most of which are brought on by stress. As a result, a good face wash is a necessity for me and believe me when I say I’ve tried them all – with very mixed results I might add.
Although I would categorize my skin as oily, it can get overly dry very quickly if I use a facial cleanser that’s too harsh, which many are. Unfortunately when my skin dries it becomes more prone to breakouts. You can imagine how cautious I was when I tried the Jack Black Pure Clean Daily Facial Cleanser – one face wash I had not yet tried, but I was very pleasantly surprised by the results.
The cleanser is gentle in nature like a Cetaphil, but provides a deeper clean feeling without the drying of other products making it perfect for most skin types including those with sensitive skin. It has a nice creamy consistency without being too thick and lathers nicely. The inclusion of chamomile and aloe leaf extracts offers a cooling sensation when you wash and a scent that is pleasant without being overly strong.
According to the tube, this is meant to be a 2-in-1 cleanser with witch hazel included as a natural astringent and toner to take away extra dirt and oil. As with most cleansers that make this claim I found that I had to use a separate toner to clear away that extra bit of dirt. Perhaps for those with less oily skin, this product will be enough for both needs, even if it wasn’t for me – although it did prove to be one of the best facial cleansers I’ve used, which is no small feat!
After a little toner and some moisturizer I was ready to go (yes there are men who moisturize!). If you want a simple, no-hassle cleanser that will work for almost any skin type – I highly recommend the Jack Black Pure Daily Facial Cleanser. For those of you with more oily skin, I would recommend following with a toner to clear away any remaining excess dirt and oil.

Very nice blog and I totally agree with what you wrote. Just to add on your post, it was only not so long ago that I became a fan of sunless self tanning lotions, until my sister gave me one to try for a production that I was in that required me to have a tan. It was so great and convenient to use rather having to go to the tanning booth. The color was terrific! I even used it on my children as they were in the production with me, and they love it too! Now I use it regularly and in fact am able to go without foundation because of the wonderful color it gives me, which sure saves time in the morning! Keep on writing interesting stuff, more power to you.
