You may have heard the saying “liquid eyeliner can sense fear”, but I must admit that the Kat Von D Tattoo Liner makes the application of liquid eyeliner much easier with its precise tip and waterproof, smudge-free consistency. Kat Von D products are owned by Sephora, but they are cruelty free (and not sold in China). The Tattoo Liner does not contain animal ingredients and is vegan (see a list of Kat’s vegan products here).
The Tattoo Liner comes in Trooper (black) and Mad Max Brown. The product comes in the usual liquid eyeliner packaging with a pull-off cap and is able to be shaken to bring the ink to the felt tip. I was looking forward to testing out another “tattoo” product from the Kat Von D Beauty line, especially the liquid liner since a cat-eye is my favorite go-to look for a night out on the town.
To ensure I didn’t make a black mess, I placed two pieces of tape under my eyelids to create a stencil to follow when applying the eyeliner. I was absolutely amazed at how easily the ink glided on and defined line that was created. I opted to go a little bit bolder with the thickness of my line to ensure my eyes would stand out. Typically, I will have to go in with a makeup wipe to clean up and mistakes I made, but that wasn’t necessary after using this product since there was no bleeding of the ink.
The real test, however, was how long this liquid eyeliner would last from morning to night. I decided to try out this look for a day in San Francisco and to my delight, the liner stayed put the entire time! After spending hours on crowded public transportation, busy city streets and basking in the sun, there were no black smudges or fading of the line. It was just as bold and flawless as it were immediately after I applied it. Once it was time to remove the liner, there was no struggle. I simply used a bit of eye makeup remover to clean off my eyelids and was not left with any black residue.
Verdict: I am in love. For me, finding the perfect liquid liner requires trial and error and I am relieved that I have found the Kat Von D Tattoo Liner. This is one of those products that I can absolutely count on for any event, big or small.
