A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of experiencing my first laser hair removal session at Laser Away in West Hollywood and I can sum up the experience in one word: fantastic! As a (reasonably) fair skinned person with dark hair, going under the laser was something I always wanted to try. Now I can safely say I’m a laser junkie!
I’ve always been a bit weary of doctors and whatnot, so I was a bit thrown at first by how medical the whole process seemed to be. I went to the Sunset location and my first impression was that I was in a really hip doctor’s office, albeit a much more inviting one. I suppose if you’re going to be dealing with needles and lasers it’s best to have it done by medical professionals, and by the time the procedure began I actually found it comforting since I was extremely nervous.
The actual lasering was administered by a certified nurse who gently explained the whole process before she got started. I was getting my underarms done so I had to wipe off my deodorant with baby wipes before we began and got some very funky protective eyeware. To be honest, I was so nervous I didn’t even really want to get a good look at the laser before she started zapping away.
The laser itself was admittedly painful—on a scale of 1 to 10 I would give it a 5 or 6, but it was over in less than two minutes (a minute per underarm). I’ve never been tattooed but I’d imagine it wouldn’t hurt any more or less than that. It felt like a million tiny pinpricks on my underarms but the laser itself had a cooling spray attached to immediately lessen the pain from the heat of the laser. Like I said, I was uncomfortable, but not so uncomfortable I wouldn’t do it again.
For the first week it seemed like nothing had changed and I still had to shave like normal. However by week two I began to notice a significant difference. I was always one of those girls whose underarms never looked shaved at first glance because my hair was so dark, but after one treatment it looks so much better. Apparently it takes time for your body to push out the dead hairs but once it does, it’s gone for good. Overall it was an awesome experience and I can’t recommend it enough—I can’t wait to go under the laser again!

If I lived in the LA area I'd have it done there for sure. My Juvederm experience with them was top notch and I'm thrilled with the outcome and the professional team there.

Hi, April,
I was wondering about hair laser removal and its efficiency, regardless of the studio which can do it (I don't live in L.A., nor the US anyway), but your post also includes the data I was seeking for. So, it can work as long as the dead hair grows out first…later on its all much smoother. That's what I needed to hear! Thanks for clearing out.

How much expensive is a laser hair removal?
mybeautybunny says
It's not cheap, but it's totally worth it. The price varies depending on the area you want treated, skin type, etc. Just make sure you go to a reputable place staffed by nurses, PAs and doctors.

Yes Laser hair removal treatment is safe, painless and effective. The FDA has approved laser hair removal as a safe means of hair reduction. In laser hair removal the laser will be pointed to your pores, and will destroy the hair follicles to stop the generation of hair. Laser hair removal requires several sessions for best results.
So, the laser hair removal treatment is a best option for everyone who wish to get rid of unwanted hairs. Laser hair removal can be done on any body portion without limitation.
