CLEAN is one of my favorite perfume brands. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the smell of fresh laundry, clean towels, clean hair, anything fresh and clean! There’s a scene in the Walking Dead where one of the characters, Maggie, smells fresh laundry after having been out in the wild forever, and I know what she was smelling – CLEAN!
I was excited to try out their new scent “AIR” (eau de parfum, lotion and shower gel), along with their classic Men’s eau de toilette and sampler rollerball fragrances.
Layering fragrances may sound complicated, yet it is very simple with some quick background knowledge. Layering allows you to truly find your signature scent – whether for a special day or for the season, it is one that is uniquely you.
The new CLEAN scent “AIR” acts as a catalyst with all other CLEAN scents. When worn alone it is a woody refreshing, crisp and feminine but when layered, it transforms into a new floral experience. The women’s CLEAN AIR eau de parfum is light and refreshing and to me smells a bit citrus-y and floral.
AIR Top Notes: Mountain Air Accord, Bergamot Blossoms, Lush Green Accord
AIR Mid Notes: Sparkling Freesia, Powdered Aldehydes, Dewy Peony
AIR Base Notes: Enveloping Musk, Cashmere Woods, White Amber
The body lotion and shower gel are equally refreshing. Seriously – I’m in love with this brand.
The Classic CLEAN for Men eau de toilette is very nice – light and not overly woodsy or harsh like some men’s fragrances. My fiance and I both liked it. At first I thought it was too girly, but then the top notes drifted away and I was like HELLO there! There’s the sexy part!
MENS CLASSIC Top Notes: Bergamot, Basil, Saffron
MENS CLASSIC Mid Notes: Juniper Berry, Violet Leaf, Jasmine, Iris, Black Pepper
MENS CLASSIC Base Notes: Musk, Vetiver, Oud, Amber
Layering Fragrance 101:
Find a yin to a yang. It is all about balance!
- If you like darker fragrances, pair with a sparkling floral to lighten and brighten
- Pair a brighter top note with heavier back notes
- You can increase the richness of a fragrance by layering a scent that is more background heavy (i.e. vanilla, woods, musks) and create a lighter rendition by layering fresh, fruity or watery notes on top.
- CLEAN AIR brightens up CLEAN WARM COTTON (a comforting scent with citrus, lilac and jasmine)
- CLEAN AIR layered with CLEAN WHITE WOODS (woody musk with hints of bergamot leaves, mandarin and vanilla) or CLEAN SKIN (dewy flower pets wrap around notes of pure creaminess and warm musk) takes on a new sensual approach with floral notes
Layering guideline basics (these go together very well):
- Florals & Orientals
- Fruity & Florals
- Citrus & Woody
- Oriental & Gourmand
Tips for layering:
- For a more enhanced experience, spray your pulse points with one fragrance then spray the same points with the second fragrance to see the real chemistry.
- For a more subtle option, you can layer a perfume with a lotion. Applying a scented lotion first then finish it off with a complimentary perfume.
- Try the CLEAN Rollerball Collection to test out which scents speak to you ($18.00 / CleanPerfume.com and Sephora.com)
I mixed AIR with one of my favorites, “Warm Cotton” for a wonderful fresh scent. If only my laundry, towels and bed sheets always smelled this good! Unfortunately, I’m allergic to most washer and dryer additives, but I can spray these on areas of my bed that don’t touch my face and bask in the scent.
I really want to try their deodorants, dry hair shampoo and Hair Shine Mist with UV Protection – they even have room/linen sprays, candles and diffusers! (definitely all on my wish list)!
Be sure to follow My Beauty Bunny on Instagram for an upcoming giveaway of CLEAN products worth over $149! OMG yes!
