made from earth skincare

When developing the Made from Earth skin care line, the product formulators were looking for solutions to skin problems that that were “made from earth”. The basis of the brand is that there had to be ingredients in nature that can be used to heal common skin conditions. There is no need to constantly be applying chemicals to your skin, when the earth provides so many other natural alternatives.

We will look at the top three common skin care concerns, and which ‘earthly’ ingredients are best for helping with them.

Combination Skin

People who suffer from combination skin have a unique situation – some areas of their face are oily, while others are dry. This makes it a nightmare to find a skin care product that works best for the entire face. Some cleansers may be too drying, while some moisturizers may be too moisturizing.

Combination Skin – Cleanser
A gentle cleanser should be used, which also contains an astringent ingredient (such as witch hazel). A gentle cleanser will ensure it does not overly strip the dry areas of the face, while the astringent removes excess oils from the oily parts of the face.

Combination Skin – Moisturizer
A pH balancing moisturizer balances the skin’s pH levels in oily areas by acting like an astringent, and a hydrator in dry areas. Aloe Vera is excellent in allowing the skin to retain the moisture, while ensuring it is not oily. Jojoba oil is also a non-greasy, fast absorbing ingredient option for moisturizing combination skin.

Rosacea

Rosacea is a fairly common condition, and the number of people who have this condition is underestimated. Most people may have a slight rosacea, and do not even know it. Symptoms of rosacea include redness and irritation, which can sometimes lead to small bumps or small red pimples.

The redness is due to an inflammation or irritation of skin. People with sensitive skin will see this irritation after using harsh or chemically-laden skin care products. Their face will become red and flustered. Some people only get this condition when exposed to weather changes; a cold frost in the air, or severe wind, can irritate skin causing small broken capillaries (or blood vessels), creating a reddish flushed look.

Rosacea Cleanser
A gentle, water soluble, non-drying cleanser is recommended for those with rosacea. Since people who suffer from rosacea have extremely sensitive skin, choosing the most gentle cleanser will help avoid inflaming the skin due to foreign contaminants. Certain teas when taken as a drink or applied topically to skin, like green, black and rooibos tea, also act as an anti-inflammatory.

Rosacea Moisturizer
A light serum is recommend which contains antioxidants and skin-repairing ingredients. Rosehip oil is an antiseptic to regulate sebum production. It also contains natural anti-inflammatory properties in the oil, which will make the redness go down, as well as prevent future redness. Jojoba oil is a great option for winter-rosacea sufferers, due to its emollient properties keeping skin moist, and preventing redness from windburn or frost.

Eczema

Everyone who suffers from eczema knows they cannot use just any cleanser or moisturizer. It is a contain which causes excessively dry skin, due to the body’s inability to maintain moisture. The best ingredients for eczema suffers includes hydrating botanicals and moisturizing agents. Eczema can be made worse by chemical irritants which cause allergic reactions. This can include laundry detergent and even makeup.

Eczema Cleanser
Facial cleansing and body washes should only contain mild cleansing agents. Always use liquid non-soap products. Vitamin E is a useful anti-aging ingredient for its hydrating properties; these hydrating properties make it an excellent ingredient in a cleanser for those with eczema.

Eczema Moisturizer
Experts agree that eczema suffers should use the greasiest moisturizer possible! Thick cremes are recommended instead of petroleum jelly based products (like Vaseline) because they do not clog pores. Products which contain fragrance or perfume are not recommended.

Ingredients that work: Chamomile, Vitamin E, Aloe Vera

Made from Earth products: Pure Aloe Skin Treatment, Aloe & Jojoba Creme Therapy, Vitamin E + Citrus Shower Gel

I’ve not familiar with this skincare line, so I enjoyed reading about all their products. Great they offered a discount code, too!
