Mahalo – Eco-Chic Skincare from Hawaii
It is a true treat when luxury and pure, healthy goodness combine to make a magnificent skincare line like Mahalo Skincare. I’ve had the wonderful opportunity to try out their staples along with their recently launched beauty balm that just became available mid November! For those of you not familiar with Mahalo, this hand crafted, cruelty free line utilizes the power of nature’s gifts by using local and wild harvested ingredients that are carefully blended together to create a truly decadent skincare experience. It should go without saying their entire line is free of synthetics, parabens, fillers, phthalates or dyes. It sounds like a dream to be the owners Maryna and Mark who only just started the line in December 2014 on the gorgeous island of Kauai, and it is my pleasure to share my experience with you guys!
As someone with acne prone, pregnancy sensitive skin, my complexion has been a bit under fire lately. On my recent honeymoon during a spa visit I was reminded how important it was to treat pregnancy skin with a delicate hand and how much natural anti-inflammatories could soothe and heal. I have stuck to gentle products throughout my pregnancy, but never took the plunge to go full face with an oil serum or oil-based beauty balm. I can now say that I am am not afraid to put the proper oils all over my entire face knowing that they help calm my skin.
The first product I sampled with Mahalo Vacation Glow, their body and hair oil.First of all, can we talk about their packaging? How eco-sexy is this wood bottle? Ever since I saw this brand on Instagram I was all about their packaging. Just gorgeous! But back to the oil– best used after the shower and a little goes a long way, this golden tone body treatment smells amazing with the blend of Hawaiian Sandalwood, Frankincense, Ylang Ylang and Pikake oil. It is thought to improve energy flow by bringing a sense of comfort and easy over the body and mind while deeply hydrating and repairing the skin with Sea Buckthorn and COQ10. I am in LOVE with this body oil in every way possible!
Next I ventured to try out the Mahalo Pele Mask that detoxifies and revitalizes the skin. Again, packaging *swoon*. And I love that this comes as a dry powder that all you need to do is mix with a little water when you decide to use. I tap out a bit into the palm of my hand and add water and mix to watch it turn into a slightly frothy foamy paste that I apply over my entire face. They recommend you only need to do this once per week to detoxify and tighten pores while improving circulation to achieve that “just got back from vacation” glow. Oh yeah, and the clincher for me – it fights pimples! This mask does have a bit of an “earthy” scent to it, nothing I can’t handle, and is formulated with several natural ingredients such as volcanic ash clay, cacao powder, charcoal powder, hibiscus and turmeric for a acne fighting, anti-inflammatory, bacteria-absorbing skincare whammy. My skin felt soft after rinsing and wasn’t left overly dry. I love a good face mask that fights pimples and can scare my husband.
I figured I’d go full out with this brand and go 100% with the Mahalo Vitality Elixir, their facial serum (oil) that rejuvenates the skin and offers anti-aging and anti inflammatory benefits. This product also comes with a dropper and I will give you a heads up that I probably used about 4 drops total for my entire face, practically nothing! Was I afraid that I just sealed my doom and would wake up to a pimple party? Yes. Did I? No. In fact, my skin felt great and looked great. Angry pimples calmed down after the mask and oil thanks to the inclusion of Tamanu oil, and age defying CoQ10. This product also has a bit of an earthy scent so keep that in mind if you can’t handle any scent in your facial products, but I will say it made my skin feel balanced and moisturized without the need for a moisturizer on top.
Lastly, the most recent addition to the Mahalo family, The Rare Indigo balm, formulated with 21 high performance ingredients that hydrate, fight aging, calms inflammation, and strengthens skin all in one beautifying step. Maryna and Mark spent a lot of time creating this one guys, and it shows. Suitable for am or pm use, this violet hued oil based balm requires very little to be spread across the face and contains a potent blend of antioxidants, phyto-nutrients and skin replenishing fatty acids that left my skin feeling wonderful when used at night. I have yet to try this in the AM under makeup, but love how my skin felt when I would put this on before bedtime. Free of waxes, micas and any synthetic you can think of, this uniquely colored balm does wonders for the skin!
Overall I am pleasantly surprised with the results I am getting by using Mahalo Skincare. I had high hopes since their line looked so wonderful before I even tried it, but the proof is in the puddin’. Calmer zits and less redness on my pregnant mug makes me one happy woman. To find out more about this fabulous line you should visit their website to get all the details, but stay connected with them on either Facebook, Instagram or Twitter for updates!

I ordered quite a few Mahalo Skin Care products about a month ago. When the shipment arrived, one of the jars were leaking and I couldn’t open 2 of the jars. I contacted the customer care line online and via e-mail and the lids were still stuck after everything that I tried. The customer care representative promised me replacements and I received nothing. I followed up again and she said they are in Vancouver and I still received no products. 1,5 weeks later upon threatening to provide this feedback with every green skin care influencer, they are now committed to sending me replacements and a shipping label for me to return the two faulty products. I paid over $600 for this pain and I would like trusting customers to be cognizant of this company’s attitude even if it’s an isolated incidence.
Best regards,
