Everyday Makeup Look from Blushing Basics

in Makeup on 10/26/12

Guest post by Kristie from Blushing Basics. (Editor’s Note: Urban Decay was planning to enter China, but they reversed their decision so they remain cruelty free!)

I recently tested some new Urban Decay products to determine whether or not they were potential additions to my makeup (permanent) stash. The 24/7 Eye Pencil, Super-Saturated Lip Color and Big Fatty Mascara were on probation pending approval but the eyeshadow was already a part of my collection as it was essential to completing an eye makeup look. I’m glad to tell you they passed the test.

Below is the eye makeup I created for an easy ‘Everyday Makeup’ look. In only 5 minutes I had my full face makeup complete, but that is coming from a mom who is used to working under pressure and time constraints. Once you master your Everyday Makeup look, you too can be out the door quickly and beautifully.

What makes this look so simple (without compromising style) is the use of the foiling effect. If you aren’t familiar with it, you can check it out here. If you haven’t tried it this technique I would suggest it. A definite Super Tool in your makeup arsenal.

For those of you advancing in years and are worried about using shimmery colors (they tend to accentuate wrinkles) this look actually works since you are only adding shimmer to the very center of your lid, rather than all over.

On to the tutorial!

  1. Apply nude brown shadow from lashline to crease. In this instance, I am using Urban Decay’s YDK shadow.
  2. Using the foiling technique, I foiled my Queen Phyllis to the center of my eyelid only.
  3. Using the same brush used for foiling, gently sweep back and forth just above the lash line.
  4. Enjoy!

xo,
kristie

I really adore this simple, gorgeous shimmery look. I don’t like heavy makeup so this is perfect, and it’s just so subtle yet glowing and gorgeous. Thanks for sharing!

These are some really great products that I would like to try. How much do they cost and where can I find them.

That was really great to learn. I appreciate very well the instructions in putting eye shadow. I’m really good in doing that. Thank you very much.
