Mattelustre lipstick from Pixi by Petra
Long Lasting Cruelty-Free Lipstick

Lip color that lasts? Is there a product that actually lives up to that promise? I think I may have found one that really does last all day long. I recently purchased the new Mattelustre lipstick from Pixi by Petra. I was actually intrigued by the combination of the words matte and lustre in the name of the product. There are 11 different shades available in this new collection. The formula is described as “Full-coverage, adjustable-finish lipstick for long lasting, vivid lip color with a plumping effect.” There are peptides, hyaluronic acid and vitamins C and E in the lipstick which are supposed to create a fuller and smoother lip.

The packaging is quite simple. Each lipstick comes in the pale green packaging symbolic of most products in the Pixi line. These retail for $12 each and can be purchased at Target and on the Pixi website. They are part of the new Fall of 2015 collection. To apply the lipstick you simply swipe it across the lips straight from the tube. For the lustre finish you leave it as is. If you prefer a matte finish, then you blot the finish off with a tissue or by pressing with your fingers.

I chose the Bitten Rose color, which is a warm rose pink shade.

Verdict: The Pixi Mattelustre lipstick lasted all day on my lips. It started out looking lustrous and dried down to a matte finish. It eventually went to more of a stain effect after eating, drinking and swiping my lips with napkins throughout the day. The lipstick was not heavy on the lips. In fact, I barely noticed that I was wearing it. I recommend this lipstick for those searching for a long lasting and versatile lip product. At $12 each they are a bit expensive compared to other products at Target. However, they are a great price compared to high end department store lipstick. I will definitely be purchasing additional colors for myself.
