When you’re over the age of 40, you can’t believe when you are dealing with dry skin and acne at the same time! You realize that your skin just isn’t the way it used to be. Instead of accumulating a bunch of products, I recommend just getting a few good quality ones. Choosing products will depend on your skin type, but focusing on good skin care is important and doesn’t have to be complicated. Here are some of my favorite products for women over forty:
Face:
Emani Hydra Wear 12 Hour Foundation is a beautiful satin and has a medium level of coverage. It does not gather in fine lines and gives the most beautiful look to to the skin. It is vegan, cruelty free, gluten free and the packaging is eco-friendly.
Becca Ultimate Coverage Concealing Creme over Becca Under Eye Brightening Corrector is creamy and the concealer does well to cover spots. Becca’s Lowlight Sculpting Perfector is soft enough to blend easily whether you are experienced in contouring or just beginning.
For a highlight, Josie Maran Argan Enlightenment Illuminizer gives definition to mature cheekbones without calling attention to pores.
I follow up with a great setting powder. My favorite is Hourglass Cosmetics Ambient Lighting Powder. I have tried so many powders and have heard some people say they don’t know what the hype is all about but I can tell you that if you are over 40, you will notice! This powder blurs lines and gives the most beautiful finish while setting your makeup, and it never cakes up.
For blush, I love Too Faced Sweethearts Perfect Flush Blush as it does not sit on top of the skin. Instead it melds itself to the skin so it looks like it’s part of you.
Eyes:
I always use Kat Von D High Voltage eye primer to start. You can add a pop of color at any age! Start with a neutral look and add a smudge of colored shadow on the lower lash line to bring your eye look the pizzazz it needs. This past year so many beautiful matte palettes have come out and Too Faced Natural Eye and Kat Von D Shade and Light Eye Contour Palette are my favorites.
For eyebrows, I use the Hourglass Arch Brow Sculpting Pencil and I finish with Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara.
Lips:
Lip liner is an important part of my routine, and my favorite is Essence. Essence lip liners are very affordable, but still high quality.
Lipsticks now have come out in so many colors and formulas. I swear by Kat Von D liquid lipsticks as well as her traditional Studded Kiss bullet lipsticks. They are beautiful and the colors are endless. My favorite combo is Noble with Gothica layered over one another. It gives the most pretty soft nude with a slightly glittery copper tinge.
You don’t have to wear makeup to be beautiful, your inside will shine through. But, you are never to old to experiment and have fun. You can be beautiful at any age!
