My Birthday Beauty Prep!

Jen

Well, it’s that time of year again – my 35th birthday and My Beauty Bunny’s 6th birthday! I have to tell you about the amazing ladies who helped me get prettied up for my birthday festivities this week. Birthday beauty prep time!

Skin by Carla Hydrafacial Review

First, I got a custom facial from the lovely Carla of SKIN by Carla. She uses cruelty free IS Clinical (Innovative Skincare) products that work for your skin type. The HydraFacial is the only hydradermabrasion procedure that cleanses, exfoliates, extracts and hydrates using a Vortex-fusion to induce antioxidants and peptides to give you an amazing glow! She can also do chemical peels, emulsions and masks – hydrating, toning, anti-aging and/or brightening, depending on what your skin needs.

This is not the first time I’ve gone to see Carla. She is so good at what she does, and she comes to the rescue when my skin is freaking out (which it has been doing lately!). She’s been known to work on celebrities and has worked with Beverly Hills doctors, so you know she’s good! She does the BEST extractions (which is the best part of a facial for me because otherwise I’ll pick at my face and cause scarring). And, she is a very sweet person who shares my love for animals (she has two cute little dogs – you can see them on her Instagram account).

She also gave me a brow wax, which I desperately needed! My brows grow quickly and I have sparse spots, so I need all the help I can get. I don’t get bumps or breakouts after a wax with Carla (like I do with some other waxing salons). For more information and to schedule an appointment, go to SkinByCarla.net. AND, look for a FREE FACIAL giveaway coming soon to My Beauty Bunny!

Then, the next day, I went to see Gloria of Beverly Hills Lashes for the first time. I asked her to give me a glam look because you know – birthday week! She skillfully applied synthetic lashes to give me a full, thick look. She has been doing lashes for years and is truly an expert.

I love that Beverly Hills Lashes is extremely clean. They keep your set of lashes separate from the others, so that there is no contamination on the next appointment. I’ve been to several lash places, but never seen that level of commitment to cleanliness. I also love that they “set” the lashes with a fine hydro-mist, which not only feels nice, it allows you to clean/get them wet sooner than you normally would.

You can see my full set before and after pic here (amazing right?). For the record, I’m not really THAT pale (pretty close, but now you see why it’s hard for me to find a good highlighter – I’m pretty white!) – the pics were taken lying down under a bright light! You can see more incredible before and after customer pics on Beverly Hills Lashes’ Instagram account.

Beverly Hills Lashes

Before and After with Gloria

Because I have hooded eyes, when I don’t have long lashes, you can barely see them – it’s almost like I don’t have lashes at all! Seriously, lash extensions do require some maintenance, but it’s like an instant eye lift. I wake up and I feel like I don’t need any makeup. They don’t require mascara (some people use oil-free mascara on top of lashes, but I don’t see any need). You really do need to keep your lash extensions clean. Gloria gave me a bottle of OCuSoft foaming lash cleanser to try out. You never want to use anything with oil on your extensions, or rub too hard, or they could fall out. So be gentle on them, and try to avoid steam baths and saunas if you can help it.

Beverly Hills Lashes

My fiance is used to all my beauty treatments, and his favorite is the lash extensions. He REALLY loved the glam look Gloria did for me! Beverly Hills Lashes also offers lifts, tints, waxes and bridal packages. They also have concierge services, and can come to you! To find out more, go to BeverlyHillsLashes.com!

Now, I just have to get my nails done, and hair styled by my go to hair guru, Patricia Lynn Laas!

Jen Mathews Birthday 2015

Here’s my more glammed-up look for dinner with my fiance. He bought me the black filigree necklace – I think it’s really pretty! Sorry for the indoor lighting, but it was night time, and I wanted to show you the finished look.

If you live in Los Angeles, you have to check out these ladies’ beauty services. If you’re not a regular primper, treat yourself once in a while! A birthday is a good excuse, but who really needs an excuse – am I right? 🙂

I would not say your eyes are that hooded, they are just more deep set. My eyes are the same, they’re just extremely deep set. And hope you had a very happy bday!
