Sad update – June 2017 – NARS is no longer cruelty free – the company has decided to sell in China, a country that requires animal testing. Click here for details.
NARS nail polish in Fury is a gorgeous, deep plum shade with prolonged gloss retention and UV protection to prevent polish discoloration. An advanced polymer system provides extended wear and a durable, chip-resistant finish. Toluene, formaldehyde and DBP free.

I’ve been subscribed to you for a while now and love the posts delivered to my email, I do have to question this one though.
I’m curious as to what you define as cruelty free? For me personally it means not a single penny of my money going towards a company that tortures animals in any way. This includes NARS. As I’m sure you know, they’re owned by Shiseido who test on animals. Not only are they owned by them, but NARS also claim to have Shiseido skin care products infused with their make up products, making NARS themselves unsuitable for people looking for more ethical products.
I post this not to be argumentative but to find out if a) you know this and b) if you have any information to the contrary.
Thanks for your time, Kelly.

I had that question as well, thanks for asking it. I was really disappointed to know Nars was owned by Shisheido as Francois Nars always has been against animal testing, or so I have read. I stopped buying Nars years ago and it was painful! But worth it. I did love their products but I can’t put money in Shisheido’s pocket.
I do know that many people define being cruelty free differently and that as long as that brand has cruelty free claims then it is OK, but it’s not for me, or for you, obviously. I too, would be interested to know if something has changed at Shisheido, though I doubt it has with the testing laws in China being what they are.
