I usually avoid perfume sections of department stores like the plague. I have a super sensitive nose and that stuff just gives me a headache. I used White Diamonds in college and although I loved the scent, it made me break out in hives – all over my body. Not good. So anyway, that’s why you don’t see a lot of perfume reviews on My Beauty Bunny. But, when I find good perfumes, I am more than excited to share them with you.
CLEAN. I’m already in love with the name. Until recently, I didn’t realize they were cruelty-free. I have always loved the smell of soap, fresh laundry, etc. I’ve purchased Demeter’s Laundry perfume and Yankee Candle’s Clean Cotton candles (there’s a new one called Fluffy Towels that I must try!). So, I was very excited to try two of CLEAN’s new scents – Cotton T-Shirt and Summer Escape.
My favorite, surprisingly, is the limited edition scent, Summer Escape ($49 Sephora). It’s a clean scent, but with a tropical twist. It reminds me of a fun, summer vacation. I’m taking a little mini-vacation for my birthday next week and this is definitely coming with me. It’s not too strong (YAY!) and doesn’t make me break out in hives (DOUBLE YAY!) and my boyfriend loves it (TRIPLE YAY!).
Notes:
Crisp Bergamot, Beach Grass, Mandarin Orange, Water Lily, Summer Peony, Beach Honeysuckle, Orange Flower, Cotton Blossom, White Sand Accord, Driftwood, Coconut Water.
Style:
Refreshing. Playful. Tranquil.
CLEAN’s other new scent, Cotton T-Shirt ($69 Sephora), has that wonderful, fresh laundry scent. It’s also light and definitely not overpowering. It’s supposed to remind you of wearing your boyfriend’s t-shirt (assuming he hasn’t been wearing said t-shirt to the gym). I actually like it mixed with Summer Escape. There is a strong note in there that is a little overpowering for me – I’m guessing it’s the bergamot or vetiver – not sure. I have the stronger sense of smell than anyone I’ve ever met (I call it my dog nose), so you should try it yourself. Definitely check it out the next time you’re in a Sephora and let me know what you think.
Notes:
Bergamot, Fresh Laundry Accord, Clean Aldehydes, Dewy Freesia, Cotton Flower, Rosewood, Sheer Amber, Warm Musks, Touch of Vetiver
Style:
Light. Pure. Universally Loveable.

I have tried to check that Clean is indeed cruelty free but can’t find this information on their website. Where did you find it?

Hi Janey – I emailed the company directly. I haven’t checked in a while (this is an old post) so I will reach out again to make sure they are still CF.
