Own Skincare Review

Vegan and cruelty free beauty brand, Own, is a San Francisco based skin-health company that believes in the holistic (complete) approach towards healthy skin. Own believes that there are too many chemicals that are in our everyday lives – in our food, in our environment, and even in our skincare products. Own’s foundation is in developing unique, innovative formulas that are effective in improving skin’s overall health, but without the need for harsh chemicals.

Own’s hero ingredient is CLA (conjugated linoleic acid), derived from the safflower plant. CLA helps skin to retain moisture, make new cells, slow the visible aging process and repair collagen structures.

Own Skincare:

● Does not cause irritation, redness or flakiness
● Dermatologist-tested
● Fragrance-free
● Paraben-free
● Sulfate-free
● Cruelty-free
● Vegan
● GMO-free
● Gluten-free

Own Firming Silk Concentrate

Visibly reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles for more vibrant skin. The naturally derived and patented CLA (Conjugated Linoleic Acid) formula in Own Anti-Aging Firming Silk Concentrate works with your body to treat all three layers of skin through a serum that’s proven to absorb easily without leaving a residue. Own Firming Silk Concentrate works with your own body’s chemistry to reactivate healthy processes and rebuild the skin’s structures for brighter, taut, and younger-looking skin. I found the Silk Concentrate to be non-irritating, non-greasy and soothing to the skin. Note: the product doesn’t actually contain silk, so it is vegan.

Own Refining Moisture Night Cream

Hydrate and illuminate your skin nightly with a luxurious formula designed to fight all three causes of aging while you rest. Own Anti-Aging Refining Night Cream features clinically proven CLA (Conjugated Linoleic Acid) technology, a plant-based ingredient designed to enhance collagen levels, improve moisture retention, and boost metabolism for softer, smoother, and genuinely younger-looking skin. 94% of women who tried Own Anti-Aging Refining Night Cream reported that it absorbs easily and penetrates the skin quickly. The night cream made my skin feel soft and smooth. It’s a little thick for my acne-prone skin, so I would recommend for normal to dry skin types.

Own Lifting Eye Cream

Own Anti-Aging Lifting Eye Cream. Is formulated to lift and smooth wrinkles while brightening skin with clinically proven CLA technology. CLA technology lifts and firms, restores and hydrates so your eyes can look as good as you feel.

Own Anti-Aging Lifting Eye Cream has been clinically proven to:

  • Reduce the appearance of crow’s feet by 61%
  • Decrease in the total number of wrinkles around the eye area by 30%

The eye cream is not overly thick at all, but I prefer serums and thinner product around the eyes to prevent millia (small bumps around the eyes). The product was hydrating and made my eyes look brighter and more fresh.

Own price points are very reasonable and you can find them at ULTA, Duane Reade, Whole Foods, Beauty.com and ownproducts.com.

Promo Code: You can get 30% off your first purchase of Own Products with promo-code CLAIFABBO1 – expires 04/01/2013.

Are there any body powders for adults that are cruelty free? I know there are organic talcum powders, but does that mean they have not been used in animal testing?

I’m very pleased that more and more companies are becoming aware of cruelty free products. Beauty should not come at the price of another living being’s life.

It feels so good to know that there are these type of vegan products which can make our skin a healthier one than using those chemically processed products that cause harm to our skin. I would love to try this out! Thanks so much for the info regarding the promo code! HA HA. At least I’m going to have a 30% off for my first purchase of these products. Thank you!

I really support this kind of products. I believe it is really good for our skin since it contains good natural ingredients. All of the vegan products I tried are really good even for my sensitive skin.

Thank you for this. I became vegan just over a year ago, but there are still some blind-spots in my regimen. It seems like brands that used to be cruelty-free in the past (when it was more popular?) somehow let things slide. It’s getting harder and harder to find cruelty-free and vegan products that actually work. I hope to see more and more companies like this. I’ll give this one a try. I’m especially looking forward to trying the Firming Silk Concentrate. Thanks again!

I use Own cleanser on my kids’ faces. I got some in a subscription box and it’s super gentle! I’m pretty psycho about what I will use on their precious baby skin. Which gets ridiculously filthy!
