Veganlicious Beauty Mondays – Pacifica Beauty Review
Welcome to Veganlicious Beauty Mondays, with Andrea!
We know that you know that My Beauty Bunny is NOT a strictly vegan beauty blog (but always vegetarian and cruelty free AKA no animal testing). That’s okay and that’s not changing. But we also know that if you’re here, you’re probably an animal lover. You might even be the kind of animal lover that doesn’t want to eat animals. Maybe you’re vegetarian, vegan, or maybe you participate in the Meatless Monday movement. Or maybe you just like to toy with the idea.
Whatever it is, how fabulous would it be if you knew you were going the extra mile for animals by choosing a couple of vegan, cruelty free, beauty products for your line up? We’ve got you covered. Every Monday, I (Andrea) will review an entirely vegan product (containing no animal or animal by-product ingredients) and share it with you. We always love to read your comments so please, let us know what you think of the product!
I’ve been a vegetarian my entire life and a vegan for many years. I write and run the popular vegan food blog, Simply Veganlicious, where I share easy-to-make and easy-to-love recipes for vegans and the veg-curious. In the third grade, I wrote a research report about animal testing and have been championing cruelty free beauty products ever since. As a former plus-size model, I’ve seen plenty of makeup over the years – and I know that cruelty free, vegan products are the best way to go!
See you every Monday!
Now on to the first vegan beauty review! Let’s start with Pacifica!
Pacifica Beauty’s Instagram handle is @ilovepacifica. And they literally read my mind. There’s so much to love about this cruelty-free, all vegan, all natural company. With a high-quality line that covers everything from makeup, body care, home and personal fragrance, and even nail polish, they have it all. They recently added a few more products to their line, which I had the pleasure of trying out.
If you read about their products and ingredients you’ll find that their line up excludes a ton of chemicals that you probably didn’t realize were (a) in your products and (b) bad for you. Their commitment to purity and environmental protection kind of makes me want to commit to never using another product line again.
New to their line up are two things:
1) a variety of personal wipes – Underarm Deodorant Wipes, Purify Facial Towelettes, and Essential Makeup Removing Wipes
2) Alight Multi-Mineral BB Cream
Underarm Deodorant Wipes:
You know when you stumble upon a product and it so perfectly addresses an issue you’re having that you wonder how you ever lived without it? Yea. That happened.
I work out. A lot. I also sweat. A lot. And sometimes after a workout I want to meet a friend, get groceries, or just walk down the street without people having to hold their noses. So thank you, Pacifica, for these awesome Underarm Deodorant Wipes. They managed to almost completely de-stink me after a super sweaty samba class. They replaced my armpit funk with a warm, strong-but-not-overpowering, coconut fragrance. The fragrance lasted for hours on both my body and the hands I’d used to apply the wipes (added bonus!) These are a must-have for any on-the-go girl’s gym bag.
Purify Facial Towelettes:
The morning after the aforementioned stupidly intense samba workout, I was literally too exhausted to stand up in front of the sink and wash my face. So I rolled over in bed and reached for the Purify Facial Towelettes. They have the same strong coconut scent as the underarm wipes, which I really enjoyed. I didn’t think a simple, non-chemical wipe would be able to remove all the excess oil from my face, but it really did. In fact, my face even felt a little taut and dry afterwards (so unusual for me) but it was nothing a little moisturizer couldn’t fix. These will be another definite permanent addition to my gym bag.
Essential Makeup Removing Wipes: Coming at my workout from the other end, the Essential Makeup Removing Wipes were great to clean my face BEFORE starting to sweat. (I find that sweating with makeup on increases breakouts.) They are also great to use at the end of the day, to thoroughly remove both face and eye makeup before getting into bed or the shower. These have a different, much lighter, but still lovely scent than the other two wipes. Another solid product.
Alight Multi-Mineral BB Cream:
I haven’t really jumped on the BB Cream bandwagon, but I found Pacifica’s rendition to be lovely. It’s very sheer and doesn’t provide much coverage, just a natural sheen. It’s packed with good-for-your-skin ingredients, so I see it more as a tinted moisturizer than as a foundation. So if you have zits or other blemishes to cover up, be sure to use concealer FIRST so you can still see the beautiful sheen that the BB Cream provides on top of that. And it does – it almost acted like a highlight around my eyes and upper cheekbones, catching just the right amount of light to give me a healthy glow.
As you see in the picture, it looks orange on my arm; but I was pleasantly surprised to find that it really did blend nicely into my very pale, pink skin. Another pleasant surprise was that it did NOT turn greasy later in the day.
My only minor gripe about any of these products is the amount of plastic used on the wipes packaging to reseal them. One of the reasons I love and respect Pacifica is because of their commitment to the environment. This packaging seems wasteful when I’ve seen plenty of other brands of wipes with just adhesive, and not plastic, seals on their packages. Hopefully Pacifica will consider redesigning this to be more environmental friendly. (Editor’s note – Jen actually loves this feature because her other adhesive wipes are always coming loose and drying out. To each her own!)
Get yours here or in plenty of retailers (including Target and ULTA!) nationwide.
