A Sunscreen for All Skin Types
We as a species LOVE the sun. And we get it everywhere, all year round – while going for a jog, going to work, or just going to the grocery store. But what about our skin?? Constant sun exposure, even at low levels or for short periods of time, has a chronic damaging effect on your skin. So when you slather on face lotion in the morning, you should also slather on sunscreen. Or, better yet, a face lotion that has a sunscreen built-in. Paula’s Choice has the perfect product to keep you covered in both areas of hydration and protection.
I had the chance to try out Paula’s Choice Hydralight Shine-Free Mineral Complex SPF 30. It combines a lightweight moisturizing lotion with a broad-spectrum SPF, all in one tube. The lotion was soft and smooth, absorbing instantly into the skin. It claims to be for normal, combination, or acne-prone skin, and I found that to be true. In my experience, many lotions designed for “combination skin” end up being very bad for acne-prone skin. This one, however, was light as a feather and kind to my pores. No shine in sight. It was great to know that my skin was getting the hydration it needs without having to be concerned about breakouts.
I imagine it would be just as great for other skin types as well because it’s quite gentle. It claims to be a great match for extra sensitive or rosacea-prone skin. Since it is fragrance and color free, that’s a promising start.
And almost without anyone noticing, the people at Paula’s Choice added an SPF 30 to this lotion. But you’d never know it. It doesn’t have any of the tell-tale signs of sunscreen like greasiness, funky odor, or clogged pores and post-sun breakouts. Those sneaky little devils. This SPF is mineral-based and goes on with a matte finish.
Every dermatologist I’ve ever been to has harped on this point: you need to wear a (minimum) SPF 30, every single day that you’ll be spending ANY time outdoors. Every. Single. Day. I for one would like to keep my tight, smooth, young-looking skin, and sunscreen is a sure-fire way to help that cause. If you’re looking for a combination lotion/sunscreen that is light, effective, and that you can forget you’re even wearing, check this one out.
