I think this is a really cool concept. PickURGift.com is a site that allows you to send someone a list of presents you picked out for them, so they can pick their favorite. Much better and more personal than a gift card. Perfect for the guys who want to buy their ladies clothes, bags or jewelry, but don’t want to pick something that doesn’t fit, or that they won’t like. Or parents buying for their older kids, or vice versa!
It’s easy to use too. Just add the UR Button to your browser on your computer or iPad. When you see something you like, add it to your reverse wish list. In the example above, I made a cruelty free Christmas gift list for my sister, who lives in Boston. Since I’m on the other side of the country, I can’t exactly take her shopping. But, with Pick UR Gift, she can pick her favorite gift and I can purchase it for her – perfect!
You can also send your gift list to others to get their opinions. Let’s say you and your siblings are buying a gift for your parents for their anniversary. You can start a list and send it to them to get their opinions. They can suggest other options, and you can collectively decide on a gift to send (or a list of options to send to your parents so they can choose)!
What do you think? Would you use this service? And what would you think if someone sent you a gift with the service?

This is much like a registry for any other event such as a wedding or baby. I like the idea. I do like the surprise in getting a gift that I have no foreknowledge of, so this takes away from that some, but it is much more personal than a gift card with money. I’m not quite sure that I would use this type of service, but I feel like it would be really helpful for others.

I like it in the sense that if your family is using this, you’ll never be stuck with a gift you don’t like! But I agree with Cin, sometimes the surprise of opening the gift (and hoping it was something on your wishlist) is all the fun! I mean realistically anything on my wishlist, I would be happy to receive so I feel like send that out is easier than going back and forth for each member of the family/friends.

that’s such a smart idea. I wouldn’t mind getting sent a gift this way at all!

I agree, this is a cool concept. But for really meaningful gifts, I’d probably keep it a surprise.

I agree, It is a great concept, but I love having it a surprise and more it would be more genuine. Not just looking online and pretty much buying something for yourself.

One of the ways it can still be a surprise is that when you send it the recipient can select multiple items they would like. They still dont know which one they will get. Hope that helps a little.
