Since the amount of money deducted from my bank account monthly for student loans sadly only leaves me with enough funds for a $35 walk-in haircut a few times a year, my heart leapt at the chance to try cruelty-free Privé Products and give my hair care regime a much-needed at-home taste of the luxurious. Privé Products were created by Laurent Dufourg—founder of world-famous and celebrity-favorite Privé Salons—in order to provide quality take-home products that afford the benefits clientele of this level demand.
Although I’m a celebrity gossip fiend and believe I could live quite comfortably with personal maids, assistants, trainers, and dog walkers…I haven’t yet acquired that staff, I work full-time, and I have to wrangle two energetic dogs. Clearly, then, when it comes to my daily beauty routine, the key demands are “quick and effective.” I’m always looking to pare my routine down to fewer products that can each singularly provide big boosts.
I also have super fine hair—I can typically wrap one of the smaller-sized hair rubber bands at least twice around my ponytail—and it’s straight as a board. Lastly, I know—I KNOW—everyone says not to over-shampoo and to not necessarily do so daily, but based on personal hygiene OCD-ness and the fact that fine hair clumps together quite visibly when it’s dirty, I do in fact wash it every day.
In trying Privé Products’ Daily Shampoo, Daily Conditioner, and Thermal Protection Detangling Spray, here’s what I found:
The most noticeable and my favorite aspect of the products is their smell. I don’t like my products to be overly heady and powerful—just clean and fresh is preferred—and these products, primarily the shampoo, smell crisp and light. The shampoo and conditioner boast that they don’t harm color and I indeed noticed no ill effects (to even my, ahem, drugstore dye). The shampoo reminded me of clarifying shampoos I’ve used in the past, except this one didn’t dry out or seem to strip my hair like past products did. The detangling spray was also effective post-shower, and I didn’t notice any obvious extra weight even when applying one more product than usual.
What stood out to me most about these Privé Products is that I felt clear research was performed to perfect products that do exactly what they need to do–they focus in on what’s needed and execute accordingly. I’ve used some other organic, cruelty-free products in the past that weighed my hair down and that made my hair look embarrassingly greasy. And let me tell you: it’s quite horrific to attempt to manage employees and sit through meetings when you feel like you look like you didn’t shower but actually did.
If these products didn’t even weigh down my super-fine strands, I’d recommend them for great success with hair of all types. More can be learned about the products online at priveproducts.com, and items can be purchased directly from the site as well.
