Hi everyone. We hope you’ve been having a wonderful holiday season. To get back into the swing of things, I thought I’d start us off by reviewing one of my new favorite mattifiers, OC Eight. Despite the drier weather, my oily skin is still at it, in fact, probably more so since it’s trying to compensate for a lack of moisture. But I don’t have to worry about an unsightly oil slick with this wonderful product.
At first I thought OC Eight was a strange name. But it stands for: Oil Control Eight Hours. I know what you’re thinking, yeah right, no mattifier can last eight hours. But this one is different. It actually does what it claims, and it does so without making your skin feel caked with silicone or dried out with alcohol.
Although OC Eight is called a mattifying gel, the product feels much more like a lotion. It’s white and creamy, but absorbs quickly with no residue. It doesn’t provide instant tightening or a dull matte appearance like some mattifiers. Instead, it actually absorbs the oil before you even notice it, bringing balance to your unbalanced skin.
How does it do it? Well, according to its packaging, it has everything to do with these sponge-like microparticles that absorb up to six times their own volume in oil and lock it away so you can stay shine free all day.
If you’ve heard of this product before, it’s probably because it’s a staple for the contestants on American Idol. It’s not available in stores, however it is available on Amazon and at online beauty sites. And believe me, it’s worth the $35 price tag.

I agree! I tried a small sample packet of this a couple of months ago and I used it on my very oily t-zone. It's the best mattifier I've tried to date. I don't like the way makeup looks over some other brands I've used. I'm going to buy this soon.
