I’m really excited about this line of skincare products I just discovered from Rejuvasea. The products are made with a specially active form of plankton – yep that stuff that floats around in the sea and gets eaten by whales. Plankton can be animal or plant form, but this form is purely plant-based (phytoplankton).
This powerful antioxidant, (they call it RéjuvaPlankton®) was discovered in the waters of Veta la Palma in Spain by scientists at RéjuvaSea Skincare Labs. Intent on preserving the Veta la Palma sanctuary, their scientists have been able to replicate the ecosystem in their state-of-the-art research facility. Marrying nature with science, the Rejuvasea scientists and skincare specialists have harvested this potent marine based ingredient to create the RéjuvaSea Skin Nutrition System.
This plankton, a powerful ocean-based antioxidant was found to have extraordinary benefits for the skin, including stimulating collagen production, increasing skin mitochondrial metabolism (crucial to healthy skin cells), and inhibiting melanin secretion (reducing the effects of hyperpigmentation which allows for more even skin tones). Rejuvasea sent me the entire product line to check out. All products are cruelty free, non-irritating, and have no parabens, sulfates, phthalates, triclosan, petroleum or mineral oil. Here are my thoughts on each product.
The Refine Exfoliating Cleanser is non-irritating to my sensitive skin, which is good when my skin is being reactive to some other product! It’s made with seaweed, kelp, aloe and luffa. It has a creamy feel with small, round exfoliating beads. On an every day basis, I prefer more of a gel cleanser with more exfoliation power because I have combo/oily skin. I felt that there weren’t enough exfoliating beads to really give me a good scrubbing. If you have dry or very sensitive skin, you will love this product.
The Hydrating Sea Mist is a great toner, but it works much better if you spray it onto a cotton pad than directly on to your face. It’s more of a spritz than a mist, so a lot comes out in each spray. I prefer to use a cotton ball anyway because it cleans up any residue missed by your cleanser. The Hydrating Sea Mist is non-drying, non-irritating and restores the proper pH balance to your skin.
If you have combination or oily skin, the Revitalize Firming Serum is all you need. It has enough hydration for me, and it’s packed with antioxidants, amino acids and omega lipids. It makes my skin feel soft, bright and gives it a glow that I can see right away! Even though it’s called a firming serum, it doesn’t make your skin feel tight, which is perfect for me.
If you need a heavier cream with more moisture, try the Replenish Cellular Repair Night Cream. It’s got all the goodness of the serum but more moisturizing action. I use this on my dry spots and it’s not at all greasy.
You may not need the eye cream if you have the serum or night cream, but if you’re not using the other products, definitely give this a try. The Cellular Repair Eye Cream is thick and creamy – similar to the night cream. It hydrates and fills in fine lines instantly.
The Daily Nutrient Body Lotion is one of my faves. It’s packed with good stuff, and doesn’t have any of the bad stuff. If you’re going to slather a body lotion over a large percentage of your largest organ (your skin), don’t you want to be absorbing something that’s good for you? I do! The lotion is not greasy, but hydrates deeply and has a light, fresh scent.
Overall, I’m very impressed with this cruelty free skincare line. Definitely give it a try! Want to win it? You can win a $30 credit to RejuvaSea.com! 5,000 winners are announced every Tuesday!
