Repair Your Skin with DermYoung Skincare
I recently tried some new cruelty free skincare products from DermYoung. I was intrigued by their promise of ultra luxe and effective products that would help to repair my skin while protecting it from further damage (by the elements and good ‘ole Father Time).
Their iGenesis Youth Essence Serum is their most popular product, and is full of great antioxidants, anti-aging ingredients, brightening ingredients, anti-inflammatories, and exfoliating ingredients, but I’m allergic to Vitamin C, so I wasn’t able to test drive that one for you. If you don’t have an allergy like me, I would definitely give this one a look. Since I have sensitive, acne-prone skin, I opted for their iGenesis Hydrating Mist and iGenesis Hydrating and Pore Refining Fluid.
The iGenesis Hydrating Mist is the first step in the DermYoung skincare regimen. After cleansing, I spray it directly on to my skin, and then pat in a little extra to make sure my skin absorbs as much good stuff as possible. It tones and hydrates with witch hazel, glucosamine, panthenol, sodium PCA, sodium hyaluronate, rice protein, allantoin, aloe vera, sour cherry extract, and niacinimide. Most of these are great hydrating ingredients that won’t make your skin feel greasy or smothered!
Niacinimide (AKA Vit B3) is an interesting ingredient that not everyone knows about, but you should! It can help balance oil production, boost the effectiveness of moisturizers (by preventing water loss), enhance your skin’s immunity from microbes, increase ceramide production (which helps to keep your skin moisturized and protected from the elements), boosts collagen production and helps with hyperpigmentation (by reducing the transfer of melanin to the outer layer of skin). It’s pretty well tolerated by most people, and it helps with all skin types, so what’s not to love?
Sour Cherry (Prunus Cerasus) is an interesting ingredient as well. It’s not one I’m very familiar with in skincare, but according to a Biomedicine and Biotechnology journal article, it has lots of antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties!
The iGenesis Hydrating and Pore Refining Fluid is a very light, serum-like product that goes deep to hydrate thirsty skin. It contains aloe vera, rose hydrosol, niacinimide, sodium PCA, algae, sodium hyaluronate and other ingredients that hydrate without adding heaviness or greasiness of any kind. This is meant to be used after the Hydrating Mist and Youth Essence Serum. If you have oily skin, you may not need anything else. If you have dry skin, you can use the Revitalizing Creme after it to lock in the hydration. Over time, the goal of this product is to reduce the look of large pores, and I think the star ingredient to help with that is the niacinimide.
DermYoung products are cruelty free and will never contain: masking fragrances, dyes, essential oils, lanolin, alcohol, formaldehyde, parabens, phthalates, or polyethylene glycols (PEGs).

I’d like to know the source of their sodium hyaluronate since they said they’re vegan, just curious because I am interested to try their products.

The gorgeous blue packaging attracts me immediately, and I love a number of the ingredients they use. Niacinamide is my jam, but I too wasn’t familiar with the benefits of sour cherry. I’ve really been into both mists and fluids/essences this year, so both products you mentioned sounds like ones that should go on my to try list

The pore refining fluid sounds interesting. I’m starting to notice my pores on my nose and round my mouth are getting larger.

I love the luxe purple packaging. The pore refining fluid sounds great for oily, acne-prone skin. Bummer that you’re allergic to Vit C 🙁 Allergies are the worst.
