One of my favorite brands from the drugstore is Jesse’s Girl Cosmetics. They are a cruelty-free brand with a low price point and top quality products. I wish someone in my local area carried the brand, but if you’re like me and can’t access it in a store, you can visit their website.
Jesse’s Girl Cosmetics issued a challenge that I was willing to take for the New Year. They suggested that instead of the usual black smokey eye that people should try a holiday look using green and gold. I was SO ready for that challenge and I’m glad they suggested it. I was fortunate to be able to test some products they suggested to ring in my new year.
The Eye Dusts, ($4.99), are pure pigment loose eye colors. You can use them dry for a lighter application or wet for added shine and staying power. From left to right, they are Antique Green, Kiwi Rose and Brown Sugar I love the depth of Antique Green when wet. It makes a stunning smoky eye. Kiwi Green looks just about the same whether it’s wet or dry; it’s a nearly chartreuse yellow green which gobs of shimmer and is great for using as an inner eye highlight or lightly dusted over anything to give it a three dimensional shimmer quality. Brown Sugar when dry is the kind of color I use for everything as a base for my crease. When wet, it gives that surprising silvery taupe shimmer.
For my New Year’s look, I used Brown Sugar dry in my crease and on the lid and blended Antique Green to the depth I wanted and used it wet to add more smoke and contrast. I put Kiwi Rose in the inner corner and swept lightly above the crease. I used the Jesse’s Girl Cosmetics kohl eye liners, ($1.99), in White and Black Sparkle. I put some white on my lower lid rim to open my eyes and give an awakened look and went crazy with the Black Sparkle everywhere else. Both kohls are rich and creamy and apply with ease. They have great lasting power and the lid with the built-in sharpener saves you money! The Black Sparkle kohl combined with the Antique Green Eye Dust is AH-Mazing!!
My nails are done with a new Julie G nail polish, ($3.99), in the color of Cherry On Top. This is a beautiful classic red nail color that is a one coat wonder. Seriously. One Coat!! It’s rich and creamy and beautiful for holiday or anytime. I could use more colors from the beloved YouTube guru, Julie G. Her signature nail polish collection by Jesse’s Girl is top notch and standing up to all my thumping on the computer keyboard. I’m really impressed.
Lastly, I put a kiss on my lips with Jesse’s Girl Flavor Kissed Lip Gloss, ($2.99), in the shade Raspberry. These glosses are moisturizing but very sheer so that you get mainly shine but not much tint. They taste like candy. The glosses have a sponge tip applicator and need to be applied often for lots of shine. As they wear, they leave a fresh shine but if you want really shiny, apply more often.
Jesse’s Girl Cosmetics can be purchased at select Rite Aid Stores and online at www.Jessesgirlcosmetics.com. My only concern is that I don’t understand why the market is so small. I would love to see this product line expanded into stores that are more readily accessible. Until that day, you can shop online with confidence from this cruelty free beauty brand.
