Spa of the Day – Salon Organic

When my good friends and fellow beauty product lovers at My Beauty Bunny asked me to review a Dr. Hauschka facial at a new salon/spa in my area I thought about it for approximately 0.25 seconds and said, YES! Well, I had no idea what a treat it would be.

When I stepped into Salon Organic in Montclair, NJ for my treatment I was greeted by the lovely Anne Hall, proprietor and certified Dr. Hauschka esthetician.

The salon is small and located on a busy street, simply decorated with a cozy atmosphere and the scents of lavender and lemon permeating throughout. Ms. Hall immediately made me feel comfortable, inviting me into a curtain enclosed room with dim lighting and a cozy robe waiting for me.

She took the time to find the best treatment for me by asking questions about my skin and about concerns I might have. I told her that my sensitive skin had been uncharacteristically finicky lately with new little blemishes popping up almost on a daily basis for the last month. My last facial was about six months ago so, she suggested The Cleansing Treatment. She chose products fitting for my skin type (combination) and explained what I would expect with this facial. The first thing she mentioned was the large lamp over the table that she would use throughout the facial for chromatherapy ( color therapy) to balance energy and to complement each phase of the specialized treatment. It would start with a foot bath, and she would not talk during the facial, only to make sure I was comfortable.

It all began with my tired feet soaking in a luxurious Sage Bath. Throughout my entire facial I was rubbing my feet together in amazement of how soft they felt! Ms. Hall then moved on to my face and decollete with a warm thin cloth soaked in Lavender Bath. She gently pressed the cloth against my skin to ready it for cleaning. With the exfoliating Cleansing Cream in hand she pressed and rolled outward starting at my forehead and worked her way down. I was so pleased with this method of cleansing. It was so gentle and relaxing, I have continued to do this at home.

The treatment continued with the Facial Steam Bath which was infused with herbs and essential oils that soften the pores. Aside from smelling great, this steam was so relaxing I was afraid I would fall asleep and roll right off the table. Ms. Hall continued with the Cleansing Clay Mask applied with a large, soft fan brush. After gently wiping away the clay mask she applied the Normalizing Day Oil on my newly cleaned face and I was good to go.

I left Salon Organic with a kit of travel sized products to take home and continue my new skincare regime. Of course my first instinct after receiving a facial is to rub my hands all over my face. Terrible? Maybe, but I did just that as soon as I was alone. My skin felt so smooth and soft! I felt renewed, rejuvenated and ready to face rush hour traffic with my fresh face.

It has been 4 days since my Cleansing Treatment Facial and I am proud and amazed to report that my skin has cleared up. No new breakouts after weeks of new breakouts, and the blemishes that I had going into the facial have gone away in humiliation. So take that finicky skin! Thank you Anne Hall and Dr. Hauschka Skin Care!
