You guys – I’m THRILLED about the new Sephora opening at The Grove Los Angeles (in the Fairfax District)! I live within walking distance, and I’m there a lot to see movies and have dinner date nights with my fiance. Now I have an excuse to go shopping while I’m waiting for a movie to start!
I went to the press preview the day before it opened and got a great lesson on contouring and strobing (like highlighting, but more intense). Turns out, I was doing okay, but I learned some new tricks. For example, I dabbed a shimmery light cream (pink tones for me since I have yellow undertones) from the mid-point under the eye, around the side of the eyebrow and up to the top of the arch, for a natural highlight. You don’t want to get crazy with the strobing – a little goes a long way. The grainy pic above doesn’t do it justice, but when it catches the light, it looks quite nice.
I recently saw these stats about Sephora from a GCI article (stats collected by The Pink Report) and I thought you might find them interesting. Go to GCI to read the entire article. Lots of interesting info there!
- Sephora is the first place she goes to browse beauty products, according to 87% of women surveyed.
- She finds Sephora appealing, stylish, trendy and fun, and trusts that it carries only brands and products that work.
- She doesn’t think of Sephora as “grab and go.”
- Sephora is a magnet for women of all ages, but millennials are the most engaged in every way.
- She trusts the brands Sephora carries.
- The Sephora shopper loves the “made for her” feel of the shopping experience, but she doesn’t want it to feel “salesy.”
The new Sephora at The Grove Los Angeles opened on October 2nd, 2015.
