Milani Cosmetics is one of the best affordable, paraben-free, cruelty-free brands. They are always coming out with new products that put them ahead of the drugstore market. Today I’ll be reviewing the Power Lip Lasting & Moisturizing Gloss Stain, as well as the new Anti-Feathering Lip Liner.
The Power Lip Lasting & Moisturizing Gloss Stain is supposed to work as a fusion of a lip gloss and a lip stain – creating shine, moisture, and long lasting color. At first, I was a bit skeptical – How can a gloss last all day? How can a stain have ample moisture and shine? I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised that the Power Lip line really lived up to its claims!
To apply, you twist the base of the product until lip color appears on a stiff-bristled applicator tip. It took me a few tries to get used to the applicator, but it did help to create strong lines. At first, the Power Lip Lasting & Moisturizing Gloss Stain looks like any other lip gloss – the magic appears as you’re wearing it, when it begins to transform into a lip stain. Amazing, right?
Lip stains usually dry out my lips but with Milani’s Power Lip, my lips felt moisturized for hours – and the color never faded! Milani has really outdone themselves with the quality of this product. It’s bound to be a breakthrough – a gloss and a stain successfully combined into one? The world of lip products will never be the same!
The Power Lip Gloss Stain is available in 8 shades, ranging from a hot red to a creamy rose. I was able to try 5 of these shades:
- 01 Red Control
- 02 Cabaret Blend
- 03 Raspberry Tart
- 04 Pink Lemonade
- 05 Macaroon
The shades are vibrant and fun – perfect for the summertime. Similar to most glosses, all of the shades apply slightly sheer and lighter than they appear in the container. After the shine begins to fade, and you get the more stain-like product, the color seems to become more opaque. Ingenious!
The secret touch to using Milani’s Power Lip is using their new Anti-Feathering Lip Liner. No one likes a runny lip product – I find that I usually have this problem with lip glosses especially. At the same time, I don’t want to have a bold red or hot pink lip liner with a color that’s not fully opaque, so Milani’s Anti-Feathering Lip Liner was perfect for me because it’s transparent. No need to worry about a bright red liner surrounding a slightly sheer product.
I’ve never tried a transparent lip liner, but this one works superbly – it applies smoothly and creates a natural but defined look for my lips. I used the Anti-Feathering Lip Liner to line my lips and then fill in any fine lines – so essentially it can be used as a “two-in-one” product – a lip liner and a lip primer! The Anti-Feathering Lip Liner is enriched with vitamins and moisturizing ingredients.
The combination of Milani’s Power Lip Lasting & Moisturizing Gloss Stain and Anti-Feathering Lip Liner is a match made in heaven for color and moisture that lasts!
