I had a fun girly day with my friend last weekend. We went to Beverly Hills (eight years in California and the first time I’ve ever walked around Beverly Hills) and looked at all the expensive stuff we can’t afford, had some gelato and got our nails done at Chi Nail Bar & Spa.
Chi (pronounced “chee” like the energy pathways of Chinese Traditional Medicine fame) is a gorgeous Asian-meets-ultra-modern salon in the heart of Beverly Hills. The beautiful owner, Fawn, uses 100% natural and organic products, including a really cool, soy-based, biodegradable, acetone-free nail polish remover called Bodipure.
For my pedicure, I sat on a high seating area full of pillows (fit for a queen) while sipping rose tea and cucumber water. I slipped my feet into a sleek bronze foot bath (no giant plastic tubs here) and caught up on my beauty magazines while my toes were pampered by the lovely Esther.
I usually save bright red nails for the pros (since I’ll just get it everywhere if I do it myself), and I was not disappointed with the outcome. The lovely ladies at Chi gave me a perfect red mani/pedi with OPI’s Vodka & Caviar. After I left, I couldn’t stop staring at my hands – they looked so glamorous – so different from when I walked in!
Oh, and Chi takes cleanliness very seriously. They don’t re-use nail tools on customers, so you get to take home all the tools they use on you! My friend and I each took home a foot scrubber, nail file, cuticle stick and buffer.
The signature hand treatment (manicure) currently costs $25 and the signature foot treatment (pedicure) is $35. It costs a bit more for the signature treatments – you get the callus remover gel treatment and a thorough scrub. Not a bad price for such a pampered experience!
