My good friend, Melissa, and I recently went to Stript Wax Bar on 3rd Street in Los Angeles. The cruelty free waxing salon also has locations in Palo Alto, San Francisco, Walnut Creek and Oakland.
I was going in for an eyebrow shaping/wax (regular price is $30 for the LA location), but when I told them I had used products containing retinol about a week prior, they recommended tweezing instead. Considering how sensitive my skin is anyway, I thought this was a much better idea. I appreciate that they took the time to listen and recommend an alternative or I might have been in major trouble!
The location is near the trendy shops on 3rd – a ways down from The Grove/Farmer’s Market. Surprisingly, there was parking in the back (a HUGE plus in LA)! I loved the decor of the salon, and I love that they sell cute things from indie brands – like Whish, Sprayology, and even lingerie! The place reminded me of a cute cupcake bakery – hey they should sell cupcakes there – wouldn’t that make waxing more enjoyable? You’re welcome for the business idea Stript! 😉
Stript Wax Bar was founded in 2009 by Owner Esthetician Katherine Goldman, fulfilling her vision of a boutique dedicated to the art of waxing. Stript, is all about wax, waxing techniques, and creating baby smooth skin that – while not painless – is about as close as you can come. Waxing is their number one priority and expertise, but they also offer other services that include a line of clinical facials and spray tanning – treatments that compliment the overall waxing experience.

Totally get what you’re saying about it reminding you of a cupcake bakery, I thought it was until I starting reading.
$30 for an eyebrow wax is sooo cheap. I wish they’d open up a location in Toronto!

I am envy! I love the colors and the sofa. I hope I could buy one like that next year and I hope budget permits. Really need some house renovation next year.
