The Super Salve Co. Face and Body Products

in Body, Dry Skin on 05/08/12

Hi everybody! Claire here, your resident skincare freak, haha! Guess what I have? Another skincare review! This time I’m going to be reviewing some body as well as facial products from the Super Salve Company.

super-salve-company

The Super Salve Company is a 100% natural herbal skin care line that boasts it’s organic fair trade, chemical and paraben-free products, and cruelty-free stance. They have products for nearly everything, ranging from outdoor skincare to mineral makeup.

This past week I was able to try out some of their salves along with some products from their “Body Nurish” line, and I was incredibly impressed!

I’m going to start off with my favorite product first! I absolutely fell in love with the Face and Body Coconut Cream. It smells like a pina colada and applies like a dream. And the only thing left behind after applying this was soft skin, no oily residue! I definitely need a jar for summer.

Next up is the Sierra Madre Sun Cream SPF 30. While I wasn’t a huge fan of the scent (it was a little salty for me) this is a great cream to apply to the more delicate parts of your body. I would recommend putting this on your face, the backs of your hands, ears, and any other delicate skin that might be seeing the sun that day.

The final body product I tried was the Mimosa Blossom Dream Cream for Face and Body. While it certainly left my skin moisturized and looking great in the morning, I wasn’t the biggest fan of the scent. I wish I had a little bit of lavender or something in it. It was just a little too citrus-y to be relaxing. So if you love clean, citrus scented moisturizers, this is going to be your cup of tea!

Now, onto the Body Nurish products!

The Coconut Cleansing Milk is a really gentle, yet effective, cleansing cream. While it is a cleanser, it was incredibly nourishing and didn’t completely strip my skin to leave it feeling tight. Instead my skin felt soft, clean, and supple.

The Hydrating Facial Toner comes in a great spray bottle. I simply sprayed the product onto my face and wiped it clean with a cotton makeup remover pad. I love the scent of the toner and the fact that it was very light and non-astringent.

Next up is the Organic Coconut Sugar Scrub with Pink Kaolin Clay. The Pink Kaolin Clay is what makes this scrub really special. This natural ingredient is a gentle clay (perfect for sensitive skin) that helps to stimulate circulation in the skin while simultaneously cleansing and exfoliating. Unlike other clays, Pink Kaolin clay does not draw oils from the skin, making this a perfect scrub for those with dry skin as well.

Finally, the Almond Honey Rejuvenating Clay Mask for Face and Neck. This is another face mask containing the Pink Kaolin Clay (yay!). The mask is very rich in nutrients containing ingredients like organic aloe vera gel, almond milk, and olive oil. It softens the skin and once you take it off you can immediately see a renewed glow. This is definitely something that I would use more often than the coconut sugar scrub, as the Almond Honey Rejuvenating Clay Mask is a much lighter exfoliant.

Till next time!

Claire J.

Great review on all the products, Claire. It's a good thing you are a "skincare freak." 🙂 It was helpful to read what the scents were.

You should try the fabulous Hair Mask and Body Nurish Hair and Scalp treatment. Your hair will feel thick, moist and the way it felt when you were 8 years old. I really love the smell of the Hair and Scalp treatment. Since I color my hair and it is sometimes dry I use it every week. I carry every product Super Salve creates and am happy to say my clients are thrilled.

Haha. Definitely wouldn’t mind smelling like a pina colada. Thanks for the reviews though. Don’t know where you find all these cool products.!

Thanks Claire for this post! I have long been a believer in the Super Salve products. The original “Super Salve” is an absolute necessity for your backcountry first aid kit, and will speed up the healing of cuts, scrapes, and blisters. The Roller Pack is highly recommended, as the four salves come in tubes which are easier to use than the tins. The Mimosa Blossom Dream Cream is great if you suffer from dry skin. I love to use it after long days of sun exposure.
