sweat cosmetics review by my beauty bunnyMineral Makeup You Can Workout In

If there is one time of the day that I try to avoid having anything on my face, it’s when I workout. For years we’ve had it drilled into us that you must go to bed with a clean face, and definitely don’t workout with a face full of makeup. Doing so would lead to clogged pores and breakouts. But that all changed with Sweat Cosmetics; the mineral makeup line made specifically for athletes or makeup wearers on the go.

Sweat Cosmetics was developed by team of women with active lifestyles who wondered why there wasn’t already a complexion product that could help even out skin tone, protect against sunburns, and last through a workout. By combining each of their areas of expertise, experience and enthusiasm for beauty products to work, Sweat Cosmetics was created featuring a line of high performance mineral makeup that works not only in the gym, but everywhere!

The entire line is cruelty free, hypoallergenic so even the most sensitive skin types can use, and consists only of natural ingredients like zinc oxide (for sun protection), Milk Thistle (for anti-inflammatory properties) and Rhodiola Rosea (a anti-aging ingredient that fights skin stress and amp up elastin production).

sweat cosmetics review by my beauty bunnyI requested to be sent two products that I thought would be easiest and most useful for me to use, one being a Mineral Foundation SPF 30+ Twist Brush and the other being their Glow Hard Mineral Bronzer SPF 25+. They do have jar versions of their foundation but I thought the twist brush was interesting and I was curious as to how well it could apply. I also like the fact that everything was self contained and there was less chance of making a mess as I quickly (and quietly) throw on some makeup before I creep out the door for my early AM Bootcamp class while the rest of the family is sleeping. (Tis’ mom life).

sweat cosmetics review by my beauty bunnyThe Mineral Foundation SPF 30+ Twist Brush is available in five shades, as well as a translucent powder. It provides light coverage, so you aren’t going to be hiding major sunspots or anything, but a bit of color just to even things out just a bit. It was really simple to setup and apply. Just screw the loose powder cartridge into the bottom, shake the brush facing down to the floor to dispense some powder into the brush and apply in one to two layers. Two layers are recommended to get the SPF 30+ coverage that the product claims to have. I found the color to blend perfectly with my skin and didn’t look “heavy” or powdery, just natural but perked up.

To be honest, it’s been a LONG time since I took a bootcamp class (since before having my baby) and I was a seriously sweaty mess at the end of it. So while my hair a wreck and in a sweaty bun, my face looked pretty decent after the initial feeling like I was going to die after class  died down. I knew I could quickly apply another layer of the foundation, rush home, and get my daughter ready for breakfast and swim class. I loved that I could just keep this in my car cup holder and apply without worrying about precision — just a quick shake, shake facing down, and swirl in circles all over my face while checking myself out in the rear view mirror.

sweat cosmetics review by my beauty bunnySince I got the foundation look down quite easy I decided to try the Glow Hard Mineral Bronzer SPF 25+ the next day. I will give you a heads up that this bronzer can be potent if you shake the brush too much. Do small shakes and test on the back of your hand before applying to your face –trust me. Learn from my mistakes! But once I figured that out,  I blended what I had done into my hairline, added some to the hollows of my cheeks, and I was looking pretty good! Not like I was going to a bootcamp class, I can tell you that! I really like this bronzer a lot, in fact I’ve used it over all the other foundations I rotate between because the color works well and I like the application of it.

sweat cosmetics review by my beauty bunnyI’ve been using both products for about a week and a half straight and I can say that it really doesn’t clog up your skin even in the most sweaty workouts at all. It definitely helps me feel more pretty and put together for a 5:30AM class, and it works for a mom on the go rushing between point A and B. For me, this is a win. Not to mention that I love that it works well with other makeup I have for toning down shine, adding a bit more coverage on top of liquid foundations and that bronzer is FA-BU-LOUS! P.S Their twist brushes use refillable cartridges and have a easy to clean brush head (score!)

You can get Sweat Cosmetics through SEPHORA online or their website, but to find out more about the brand give them a follow on Facebook and Instagram!
