The Fight to End Testing on Chimps

in Misc on 09/05/12

Chaos, an 8-year-old chimpanzee, died last year while being transported to a notorious laboratory in Louisiana that performs chimpanzee experiments. In this CNN newscast, PCRM director of government affairs Elizabeth Kucinich explains how passage of the Great Ape Protection and Cost Savings Act this year could save hundreds of chimpanzees like Chaos.

This legislation, which has the bipartisan support of more than 180 members of Congress, would end invasive, harmful, and ineffective experiments on chimpanzees, permanently end breeding of chimpanzees for invasive experiments, and release federally owned chimpanzees to sanctuaries.

Ending chimpanzee experiments will save a quarter of a billion taxpayer dollars over the next decade. The United States is the last country in the world that permits large-scale confinement of chimpanzees in laboratories and their use in invasive research.

Thanks for this post. Since subscribing to your blog I’ve been making that slightly extra effort to choose cruelty-free products (they’re everywhere now!)and urging my friends to do the same.

I wish all beauty bloggers would indicate whether the products under review were cruelty-free. It would really influence sales. Look at the UD victory!

    Keep up the great work!
